More importantly, these guys could have ended Cell in ten episodes after he was introduced if Goku would have just grabbed 18 and instant transmissioned her to Kami's lookout. Instead, he grabs Tien & Picollo.



Now I understand they're your boys, but Cell would have had no way to get to her because he had no idea where the lookout even was. Vegeta/Trunks would have finished him easily..(although knowing Vegeta, he would have snitched out 18's location so he could still "test" the extent of his new powers.. )

Even if he got her, 18 is stronger than goku at this moment she would've killed him or 16 would have since his objective after all is killing goku.

After the battle on planet Namek, the Lookout becomes where the Z Fighters take refuge and where no villain can find them. The only villains to actually discover the lookout are Garlic Jr., Super Buu, and Emperor Pilaf (in Dragon Ball GT).

There's no reason to think cell cant do the same. He didn't because it's bad writing and part of the plot for story progression. It's not a pride thing for me, but more like common sense. Cell can sense ki, so cell can find them that way. But the plot suggest that he did not.

Also you're right cell got Piccolo's DNA in the saiyan saga, but at this point piccolo knew kami was "GOD" and that he was in the lookout above earth. He never went there because any harm done to kami is harm to himself as well.
