Let's be honest about Drake...can some of y'all really say he's not talented?

I see...

Well then we just have different tastes in R&B...

:manny:

The "Blues" part in R&B doesn't translate through computerized focals imo..I feel like you can't android the soul...But he has the rhythm part down which makes for good pop...

Yes it does....you just dont realize it. People have been using pitch correction since the 90's....and other techniques before that to hide vocal inconsistencies. Great R&B music has been made using the subtleties of pitch correction....it just that T-pain made it cool to turn it up all the way.

The greatest singers from R. KElly to Tank, Jaheim, Babyface, etc all use pitch correction whether you hear it or not.

Great R&B music can also be performed live..

Can you post any link with Drake singing live outside of a studio?

show us the proof.

Trust me on this man.

I dont like Drake to the point I need to lie about something. :rudy:

Just google pitch correction history.....or just listen closely to music. In older music they'd add a ton of reverb or delay or add a bunch of harmonies to cover up.

Either that or they'd do a take 30 times til they nail the part properly....which obviously is time consuming and problemsome with tape ...and the purpose of an album.

Everyone uses pitch correction. Period. Might be a slight shift, might be a T-Pain shift, but everyone uses it. If not for lead vocals it is used 100% on background vocals b/c it's less noticeable.

Drake can spit. Anybody who says different is a fakkit.

Doesn't disguise the fact that Drake is a cornball, but he's no slouch on the mic.

he has talent when it comes to writing rnb but his rapping is mediocre at best. and his subject matter is getting boring/played out to hear.

his music is for teeny bopper females, similar to how nelly's music was. i cant respect a grown man riding around playing drake.

No, I'm not a fan like that where I look for live performances from Drake.

I can however post you numerous performances from R&B artists who dont sound like the record. Why do you suppose that is? :leostare:

Dont get me wrong, I'm a bigger R&B fan than 99% of this board....but I'm also objective.

does content/subject matter mean nothing??

it's not just about him being a red velvet cupcake from Canada who probably wrote the majority of his rhymes in a f*cking treehouse in his moms backyard while eating PB and J sandwiches with the crust cut off, it's about what he raps about. you can't expect someone like DMX to be receptive to Drake's brand of music. most of the time he's rapping from the perspective of a sensitive half-a-man, the other times he just sounds flat out corny as hell, frontin.. his lane is the sensitive sissy man, why would DMX f*ck with that?

drake has dope melodies though, i'm not a hater, but certain types of n!ggas aint tryin to hear all that..
