But let's be honest. This dude is talented. He's talented as a rapper. He doesnt spit stupid ass Mother Goose rhymes. He writes good songs when hes "singing". He can hold his own on any song with nearly any rapper on the track. On top of that, I think it's fairly unique to have heard how he grew from where he was on those early mixtapes to where is now. He has the co-sign of J-Prince, Bun B, etc....they didnt have to f with him like that before he blew up. It was no guarantee he was gonna be big.

I like DMX and remember buying IDAHIH the first day it dropped as a youngster....but alot of y'al "real hip hop heads" are just hating b/c it's "cool" to do so.

kardinal was from toronto, i thought he was cool. rakim was from a good home and he is the best MC ever to do it. beastie boys was all white and straight jewish and they was dope. yasiin bey (mos def) was an actor before he was a rapper, i think mos is a monster on the mic. none of these things make drake corny, drake is just a corny dude in general so people make fun of these things.

music wise, drake is a good mc with a good flow but as a singer he is below average and only skates by because he understands melody. more than anything its the singing that really puts me off his music. and i dont even mind when rappers sing, but drake just aint good. if he wasn't singing all over his shyt i would probably tolerate it more, but if i want to hear rnb i will listen to someone who can actually do it well. if i want to hear rappin i will listen to and MC who is tearing up tracks. i just dont really want to waste time listening to a guy who is only halfway good.

He can make songs but he has no soul in his music. Just because he can hold a note a little bit, doesnt mean that he has soul. I also think he is a studio singer. How many times have you heard Drake sing on TV? He is too bubble gum for me. I literally skipped through all of the tracks on his first album except for the song that he did with the reggae feel to it. To even put him up there as one of the greats is laughable.

can you explain to me a kid who had a bar mitzvah, and studied a book and religion to have that bar mitzvah, THEN goes to calling himself a nikka when the religion studied CLEARLY STATED you are what your mother is... your daddy dont mean shyt.

Dude isn't just talented.. He's an EXCEPTIONAL pop artist..In some ways I feel like he's underrated..He is the sound of a whole generation and has spawned more clones than dudes that people claim have more influence..In his 3 year run he has more hits than Bad Boy did in their prime and thats no small accomplishment..

The problem with him is he's not a good hip hop artist or a good r&b artist..And he's constantly being placed in those catagories...If people just look at him for what he is and put him in proper context a lot of the hate would go away..
