Smooth sailing from here on out...
perhaps, but his trade game is suspect at bestin the event russ gets traded and it doesn't result in the thunder acquiring at least a top 3 protected pick and a player who can start right now i don't see how it would bode well for presti to whiff on this trade. he's done a mediocre job at overpaying players like kyle singler 5 mill a year and has tied up a roster spot for a player that could contribute right now and be more effective. he also paid kanter last year, yet was ready to move him as quick as possible just two weeks ago so he's been erratic and it's been to the detriment of this team. he hasn't really utilized the talent he's developed through the draft as much as he's drafted either. so losing westbrook, ibaka, and durant in one offseason is more than enough to get you canned.
He's in a spot trying to trade Russy though. Teams could just try & wait him out & try signing Russy as a FA.
I will completely agree about his amazing ability to give out shyt contracts, even though the Singler deal from a money side isn't bad if Singler didn't somehow forget how to shoot, it was the years that were terrible there.
He was trying to upgrade the team & add Horford with a Kanter trade so I can't fault him on that. Horford was a real possibility but once KD wouldn't commit to anything it killed that plan because Horford wasn't coming with the chance KD & Russy both left after a year. Only reason Kanter is even on the Thunder is because he was a restricted FA when Presti got him. Presti wanted Brook Lopez but was worried Brook might leave so he went with Kanter because Presti likes having some control of not losing someone for nothing.
Thunder have done about as well as possible on developing guys they draft. There have been misses like every team but they've generally done great. Half the problem is drafting to well & ending up with situations where everyone needed paid around the same time or guys wanting opportunity than the Thunder were capable of giving them like Reggie Jackson.
