over all i guess it's whatever.
My main problem with the movement is that at some point it turned into a "we're better than you because we have natural hair and if you don't join us, you're the enemy". Girls were sheep for wearing weave and now they're still sheep if they mostly do it cause it's the in thing. A lot of them just don't want to feel shamed and left out so they join in thinking they are building self-esteem. But they haven't put in the work to actually build self-esteem. Just taking a short cut (no pun intended). its like you said, a lot of them do it to impress eachother. there's where they get their self-worth from. They still bully eachother, still put eachother down over it, still think their hair defines them but now to top it off, they think they've arrived and are above the rest. at least when they had the weave, they weren't fronting as much...And in general, i actually prefer natural hair, don't get me wrong. it doesn't apply to all of them either.
