So Big L had the industry backing of a major and flopped in real time, and that’s supposed to be a n advantage for him over Jay Z? Why did RD go Gold in 3 months and Lifestyles hasn’t hit that in 30 years?

Why is the big picture only at Gold despite being released in 2000 and had all the Big L death stimulus attached to it?
Jay also had Mary on the hook, and a hit single with Foxy on a major movie soundtrack. Those helped tremendously, because it's not like the album came out swinging in sales.

Big L had 2 marginally critically acclaimed singles, one which gained more traction with Big using the same sample.

But Dead President's was pretty much met with the same type of reception as MVP.

Dead presidents was significantly more successful than mvp and one was on a major record label

Im comparing an independent artist whose album was distributed by priority to someone on a major record label in Columbia whose album still isn’t gold 30 years after it came out.

Jay was more threatened by punchline king Fabolous than Big L,and they were on different labels. Big L didnt have the commercial juice to threaten Jay. And he wouldve still been 3rd behind Jay and Sigel. And judging from how he didnt get along with friends and group members, things couldve gotten ugly between him and Sieg:mjlol:. So maybe things happened how they did for a reason.

That doesn't mean she was going to be the next Eve though. That album would've flopped.

Vita had more buzz than Charlie Baltimore. Charlie mustve been smashing somebody on the Grammy committee:mjlol:

I remember this, dont remember no damn Charlie Baltimore tracks lol.

Vita on The Roc arguably wouldve been bigger than Big L because they needed a competent first lady.
