We are still interested in javale McGee (probably as a plan z if we don't get a big)

Interest in demarre carroll as well
Demarre Carroll?
We need superstars or nothing.

Aldridge, matthews, Carroll

All 3 of them on this team and we still ain't shyt. We need to use these assets and cap space for superstars.. Ainge DA gawd knows what needs to be done. He's not brining in any of this fringe star players.

@VMR @SchoolboyC @Malta , yo brehs....is there any conceivable way in which the Celtics could add Kevin Love, Greg Monroe, and Wesley Matthews while keeping Smart, Thomas, Bradley, Turner, Crowder, Sullinger, Zeller, and Young? You guys know the intricate details of our cap situation, etc. and I'd appreciate your analysis.

And do you think targeting those 3 players would improve the Cs significantly and even make them title contenders?

Considering both Love & Monroe would want the max, Wes isn't gonna come here for peanuts and Crowder is also a FA, I highly doubt that it could happen.

But idk why you would want Love and Monroe. Nevermind the fact that they both play the same position, but neither of them play any defense. If you thought the interior defense was bad this year with Bass & Zeller, trotting out Love & Monroe frontcourt would most likely manage to be even worse. We're not contending for titles with them protecting the paint.

1. I was thinking that Monroe would take less than the max to come here (esp. with the guarantee of Love); he's had a couple of down seasons (although that's mainly down to being played as a PF instead of a C) so that hurts his bargaining position. I really think Monroe is better as a C (peep his stats as a C before he was forced to play PF), albeit undersized. He's also a decent passer for a big man. The Pistons have just been misusing him these past couple of years. I doubt he gets the max but he would be helpful to us.

2. Ditto for Wes ,who's recovering from a serious injury and has a history of injuries. I would think we could get him for around ~$10-$14M/year, especially with the prospect of playing w/Love. I doubt he commands anywhere near the max.

3. You bring up a valid point with our lack of interior defense. But Monroe is a better defender than people give him credit for. Love's been exposed as a deficient defender but it's interesting to note that the Cavs' defensive rating during the regular season was higher when he was on the floor than when he was on the bench. But your main point is duly noted.

I'm not gung-ho for the combination of those 3 players as additions but I wanted to get feedback on the idea.

What do you think about Kostas Koufos, along with either Love or Aldridge?

I don't think he would take a paycut to come to Boston. I definitely think there's gonna be a team to offer him the max. Remember all it takes is one.

I don't think Wes would get the max even if he was healthy but my point was he's not gonna come for cheap.

Because the Cavs had him paired with guys like Thompson & Mozgov most of the time, we don't even have any good defensive bigs.

I wouldn't mind Koufos as a backup center, but ideally he shouldn't be a starter

we will inquire on all 3 in FA but zero percent chance we get them all. zero..especially while keeping the others mentioned. to even get close to cap space were going to have to flip one with wallace in all likelihood and, furthermore, asset acquisition through trade and a signing or two is more likely than pure FA acquisitions

Kings GM is stepping down and going back to work in the Denver front office. Organization more dysfunctional than ever right now, surely Danny can swoop in and get Cousins right? :lupe:

Not surprised. Their FO has been a mess for a while. hell, cousins and draft strategy could be a reason why he left. who knows what side he was on regarding the trade though. for some reason id lean towards him being down for the trade with others against it since they are obsessed with win now...but thats an interesting development with him going to Denver because there was a lot of speculation with Denver being in a 3 way trade or dealing with Sacto straight up.

If Danny could pull that off...:whoo:

And the fact that dude's leaving Sacramento and going to Denver (another team that we've been associated with) could be pivotal one way or another if a big trade comes along involving one or both of the teams. This is definitely something to keep an eye on. Something's afoot.
