I actually thought you said "be a star in football" so I'll digress a bit. But to your comparison just because Gates and others played basketball too doesn't mean that being a star basketball player makes you a good football player. You have to have the skills and playing b-ball doesn't give you that no matter how good you are. Some people possess both at varying degrees. Gates was a better football player than basketball player. It's just that simple.
What skills are you talking about? Gates did not have even one catch in college. Graham didn’t play high school football and played one year at Miami and dropped a ton of passes. They both basically stepped off the basketball court and became all pros in football. Darren Fells isn’t a star, but he only played basketball in college and also played basketball overseas before trying football and becoming a starter in the NFL.

So your notion seems to be based on thinking football requires no skill.

“Taller slower version of Randy Moss”

I don’t think he’d be able to create separation with Richard Sherman or Revis. Let alone Josh Norman
he'd have been linke gronk was at TE if you ask me
would have to be a TE or else he coulda ended up like a devin funchess or dorial green beckham

It requires a certain level of skill, but not the level needed for the NBA or even golf, baseball, or hockey. You can get a dude with the necessary level of athleticism, discipline, and aggression and find a place for him on the football field.

Football is probably easy as hell for top level NBA athletes.
:russ:

There are very, very few NBA athletes who have WR/DB/RB-level athleticism. The average NFL player at those positions is far faster, far stronger, and far more explosive than nearly every NBA player. Look at shyt like verticals in the combine and it ain't even close - NBA players need to do the running start vertical to match what NFL players get standing still.

QBs obviously have deep skill that no NBA player is going to be able to match unless they were already playing the sport.

OL/DL are much much stronger than virtually every NBA player (including rush DE, which is the closest to an NBA body type but requires enormous explosiveness).

TE is literally the only position that fits an average NBA player well (specifically a well-built forward), because height is so important while speed and strength are only secondarily so. You can't take a couple NBA players who switched to TE and then talk like that extends to the rest of the field.
