Well, that only stands to reason given the racial and political outlook (most importantly, the forum of the sport, itself) has decades of generational gaps. They have always done those things though. Kareem has always written pieces, and Tyson has never not given lengthy interviews. You may not have been aware of them, but they are there. All through late 80's and 90's Tyson would talk talk talk. It was a punchline for years from comedians. Neither were never gonna ride quietly off into the sunset. It's just in this social media age, things they say that would normally make no noise are now amplified for a few minutes.

Kareem as an elder, has always given a hard time to the young'ns. He and Magic were at odds initially, he was on MJs head too. Shaq as well. You can't expect him to not have done the same to Lebron.
