What's crazy is I don't think Blake Griffin has any creativity either. He does the same tomahawk jam expect it's mostly on people, he's no better than Lebron but he entered and won. Like Kolo mentioned he should have done it during the Cav days and jumped over a car like Blake did to win and then he would have had his Slam Dunk title. Lebron could have enlisted help from streetballers on the low for a few racks if he personally couldn't think of anything.

Main flaw in op's logic is that the dunk contest isn't real basketball. It's just a show meant to entertain. People find it more entertaining to see their favorite player rather than some scrub they never heard of.

theres lots of new creative dunks out there. but they mostly just come from people who specialize in dunking and arent in the league.

that sprite dunk contest they air on nba-tv is the best part of all-star weekend now, even tho its not officially apart of it. lebron hosted it last year, btw.

hell, the d-league contest has been better than the nba's contest in most recent years as well.
