There are not enough jobs like that. The US needs a diverse economy where people of all different skills and strengths can prosper. Not just the rigid hard sciences where only a few people are gifted.

Dog just go on craigslist, there are a shortage of skilled workers in trades, craftsmen, mechanics, welders, all types of things

Same for 2-year nursing degrees and the like

Go to a vocational school, go to night classes, hustle and do what you have to do to find a decently paying trade

At the very least get out of mcdonalds, get back to the grind, pound pavement, find a job, don't have kids unless you can afford to, get grades in school. just do whatever it takes

IT jobs require years of training to develop skill and expertise. Taking orders at McDonalds is so easy a caveman can do it.

Depends on what you're doing....Most IT jobs in that 50k-65k range can be done by 16 year olds.....and if you disagree you're not being real with yourself

I work for a satellite company with over 700K clients....guess what happens when something breaks?

If I were to show you the type of network I manage you will be in TOTAL disbelief.

yes, most days nothing breaks but if something goes wrong....it will require high critical thinking skills to get it up.

Yep, that's what people don't realize. While things don't go wrong on a daily basis, something WILL eventually go wrong and boy when it does :banderas:. And we not even gonna talk about the matter of when the unthinkable happens and EVERYONE blames you and your team . I would LOVE to show this thread to the developers that fukked up on the Obamacare website :pachaha:

How so....You can't say its an aptitude thing, cause I know teenagers who con program routers\switches and code like no other....You can argue that there may be a maturity issue, but that's irrelevant...Point is, the knowledge and skill that it takes for IT jobs in that range can be done by a teenager.....I think people like to overinflate their self worth, but these CEOs and wall street cats got a trick for that......:win:

Just wait

One of my friend's friends is a welder. Dude gets paid more than me, lives in a much cheaper city, and works 4 day weeks. He's living the life. :wow:

Break it down for me breh. In the IT thread you claim to be a developer and a voice guy. Now you're managing enterprise networks too :stopitslime:

How is it you have so many responsibilities, yet work for a multinational corporation with 700,000 clients? You mean to tell me it's not broken down into various teams within the networking group, like every other enterprise on the planet?

GOT DAYUM :banderas:

while they are cats that can do that, many of them can't. and IT cats do a little more (again, the ones I know whose jobs I'm familiar with) are responsible for way more than those kinds of menial tasks.

I'm not doubting though that there are some companies whose "IT" departments do bullshyt and not IT work that really do require skill/educations/training to do.

i trippeth off this logic as well, crazy how these crumbs bytch all day about their jobs&how hard they work when they literally do nothing but sit on their arse and type all day and brag/complain about how hard they work when they literally almost do nothing..

yet,i know many blue collar laborers who do backbreaking physical work and utter nare a complaint, guess they too tired from actually sweating to bytch..

contradictions..

My nikka, do you understand the level of mind-numbing learning you have to undergo to become and STAY a competent software developer?

So basically what you're saying is, a 17 year old can't learn how to program routers\switches, or write scripts\code....?

I just had a 17 year old put a transmission in my 84 Monte Carlo SS

not saying that at all. just saying that the vast majority of teens who are able to do that don't come close to numbering those trained/educated individuals who can.
