The issue is that the victims are gonna have to sit in court for possibly years to get a fair settlement. On top of that they may be going out of business, but once all this dies down, the scumbags at the top will probably start another business w. a different name, and continue doing the same fukk shyt (a random example Blackwater changing to Xe, changed again to Academi)
I havent seen the proposed regulations, but for your comment to make sense, the regulation would have to address them... meaning it will allow them to bypass sitting in court... something I seriously doubt. The regulation would also have to prevent them from starting a new business... so its basically not going to stop either of those from happening...

Moreover, the small factories are the ones hurt by these kind of regulations, and the added cost they bring. Only the big corps will be able to afford the added cost and you will end up with one or two major players left in the game, and then you will say thats an issue... for any number of reasons.

They f*cked up, they are out of business, they will pay tons of money to the town and anyone hurt, there may even be some jail time(though unlikely). I dont see the need for much more... or at least I think doing more will do more harm than good.

It's telling that people like you worry about the business and not what was done. They spilled chemicals in the water supply. Water that people use to live. They get to declare bankruptcy as a company and individuals get to hide behind the company in order to shield from prosecution.

Nothing sounds right about that. Needs more regulation and criminal charges to make it anywhere near right.
:whoa: Them(the corp) being able to run to govt. for protection is something i'm definitely against.

edit: what criminal charges? :ohhh:

That's what makes me laugh about Anarcho-capitalists. They scream freedom all day but a company has the right to poison water. The punishment involves one company no longer existing while another few come along and do the same thing. Where is the freedom in that?
Your just gonna leave out the financial compensation and possible jail time? :heh:

I dont get the whole new factory argument, do you not want factories built at all? spilling chemicals is already illegal, if some one is going to break the law, adding more laws, doesnt stop them :skip: Do we need more murder regulations too?:skip:

He said they wont overlap though so we will have to wait and see :manny:

I do want new factories. How about new factories to build renewable energy sources/equipment to revamp these outdated models and build a new America? You know what happens you spill wind or sunlight?

no worries they can drink some free market

These cats make me laugh. "Don't worry, the company was punished" seems like sufficient response to putting poison in the water supply of a public river. They don't understand that what happens upstream affects downstream. The environment and the peasants are just mere obstacles.

:what: You're not talking punishment, you are talking regulation.:snoop:

If you want to throw them in jail, I support that.

This is why I can't rock with full blown libertarians, someone's freedom from dirty, harmful water was taken away and all they can think of is the business side of shyt.

:mindblown: Where are you getting this, libertarians dont want there to be any punishment from. If they were found guilty and given life, i'd be cool with it.
Regulations are not punishment to the guilty. They are punishment to everyone.

I'd want those responsible, to pay. Money and time.... or be shot in the street depending on who it was they poisoned. I wouldnt want regulations placed on other factories who had nothing to do with the spill :what:
The regulations dont hurt those responsible in any way, they are out of business. They do not impact this specific case in any way what so ever. Its just some more feel good legislation that can insure votes.
