Rip.
Wonder what took him out? He’s not old.

His books were interesting but a Lee Daniels interpretation of the subject is a must-miss for me.

RIP
lee daniels is doing the our kind of people adaption though? :snoop:

I just heard in an interview that LOG had retained a level of control over the project to protect the depiction of many of the subjects.

Hopefully, his wife steps in to maintain oversight. Otherwise, it's about to be a whole lot of fukkery.

I remember dude from before. He was upset about the racism his kids experienced after moving to a new neighborhood. RIP. Life really is short :francis:

I remember this man now. There was a thread on it years ago about him basically bowing down to white supremacy so he can look as non-threatening as possible. Basically respectability politics. And teaching his sons the same.

Knowing Lee Daniels, it's about to be The Copping Pleas tour, volume 2

With Graham's widow replacing Ms. Bundles on the podcast/interview circuit.

Daniels always takes the easy way out, showers his projects with pathology/ negativity for ratings. Either doesn't believe in himself as a storyteller or believes that mainstream won't accept projects about Blacks without those elements.

Graham's passing genuinely shocked me to read this morning. My thoughts go out to his children, and them losing their father. That's first.

Having said that, I've followed him for years, since reading an article about "Member of the Club". Tv and film producers pumpfaked MULTIPLE times about greenlight projects. That's the nature of the industry. Every project is "in development". Having been pumpfaked for years, decades, finally a greenlight on his project and he passes away. Wow.

I was in complete shock as well. I'm in a Martha's Vineyard FB group and that's where I saw it posted. Everyone's a bit shell shocked.

In the interview that I heard, LOG specifically mentioned that he and his lawyers worked out a deal for him to retain some control on the project specifically because of the Member of the Club ordeal. He said typically authors give up rights to the producer who have creative license. He said with Member of the Club, they were able to attract Denzel Washington as the lead. But they ran into an issue because both him and Denzel wanted the project to be a drama whereas the producers were making it into a comedy. And so he was glad that the project didn't move beyond initial stages.

He said he learned his lesson and retained his lawyers to get him some control over the new project so that he can protect the images and integrity of the people that they were going to depict.

I guess that's all out the window now unless his wife is able to obtain control which probably has a low chance of happening. But we'll see. After all, she was the former CEO of CNBC.

I'm going to try to message his wife to encourage her to retain some control and use Bundle as a cautionary tale.
