To be honest, though... Was he REALLY throwing shade?

We could have kept him but we waived him to benefit him.

He may have a weird way of having no filter, but he gave props to the NY organization numerous times.

Sidenote: @Serious it's spooky how you've been active in our thread and we've been talking amicably about the Blazers and Knicks and y'all get this gift. I'm rooting for y'all as my surrogate team, breh. :salute:

I'm just trying get @storyteller to cover our games :damn:

But real talk, I knew we needed a decent backup center, but Kanter has exceeded expectations man. He's actually playing like a team player. I've never seen dude attempt to play defense consistently until Nurkic went down. It's crazy because you can actually see him trying and not giving up. :dahell:

With that said, @NY's #1 Draft Pick , Kanter ain't been blabbing to media, as much as he was in NY. :hubie:

But to be fair, the knicks are poorly ran franchise. :hubie:

:mjlit: Word... Be it the Nuggets or the Spurs. I’m rooting for y’all nikkas, man. :salute:

Not to mention that whole episode where he kissed the midcourt logo when he got in the game that one time.... That was waaaaaayyyy too extra.

:pachaha: That was crazy. That nikka Kanter is reckless, mane. :russ:

Maybe so, but yall did him dirty. :camby:

Nah we didn't. He was legitimately refusing to enter the huddle during close games if he got benched for defensive reasons. He opted in, knowing that we were tanking and playing for his numbers. It was really blatant (see article below for some examples). He wanted to pad his stats for a new contract while he was here and honestly the defensive flaws are just who he always has been. If you get personnel to cover for him on interior defense so that he can just box out and rebound; and if your star players work from the perimeter...he's useful, but we didn't do him dirty for the way he behaved or played. All of his fire was saved for the box score and many times interfered with driving lanes, passing lanes or anyone's ability to defend competently in pick and roll situations. If I'm not mistaken, there were even heads running the numbers on the Knicks defensive metrics pre and post-Kanter trade but it might be pre and post-KP trade. I gotta try to find that ish when I get some time.

Good on him for actually showing some competitive fire in the postseason but I think it helped that the Thunder aren't a great spaced team. If I'm not mistaken they shot the second worst percentage from three out of any team to make the post season. Kanter can survive against poor spacing, but put him in space and make him defend the pick and roll enough...it gets ugly. I wanna see Skal get burn just for my own selfish interest too :whoo:...loved his upside out of college, but it's been a flop.

Thanks fam, I'ma hit you with something for a game or two second round. My only piece of advice, don't let Kanter trick yall like Jerome James tricked Zeke. I still don't trust Kanter to be this player for a full season, we got glimpses of defensive effort both his seasons here but it came and went faster than THJ's bball IQ.

I lost it when he did that :mjlol:

Kanter: From pouting on the sideline; to demanding a trade if he can’t play; to publicly airing out Fizdale and the organization; to NYKTerryandTray tweeting from the game that Kanter SAT OUT WARM-UPs; to goading fans into chanting for him; to kissing the logo; to air balling his first shot; to the Knicks deficit only getting worse with him out there….everything about Enes Kanter is phony and self-serving. That goes right down to the way that he plays basketball every night out. He is the embodiment of fake hustle. I have nothing to say about how he played last night, get him off this roster. You opted into this for the paycheck. You show no support for your teammates if you’re not getting your numbers. Don’t disrespect the arena or our legends by pretending to care. Kanter’s a fraud.

Skal is nice in the low post. And has the potential to develop into a 3 point threat, but his defensive IQ and awareness are lacking. The problem is he hasn't been given a legit chance to develop. @LezJepzin

I hope we keep him through SL and maybe next season, but If an up and coming team wants to give him some burn that's cool.

Man I've watching Kanter for years, and I'm overall been impressed post Nurkic.

I don't put all my stock in him either, but we just need him to slow centers down and get boards.

We played a variety of different teams in final games post nurkic and was fairly consistent.

The blazers also throw a lot of help defense his way when he's outmatched or loses position. For example during the OKC series Kanter would slow down Adams while Harkless /Aminu sneak in for the block /steal on Adam's blindside.

Hell playing the way he is now, will land him a bigger contract then just stat sheet stuffing. I can't see him not getting a starting gig after this.

The bolded is the most inaccurate thing you've said in this entire thread this year, breh.

I could link you to some old Knicks season threads where we had Phil Jackson forcing nikkas to eat octopus and Dolan being on his micromanagement bullshyt.

This year, outside of the Kanter situation, our management has been stellar.

Exactly on Skal, he could use stability and the change of scenery might help too. He has all the skills to be a successful big in this league but they aren’t refined at all and that IQ isn’t definitely worrisome (but i do think stability would help).

I definitely think Portland was a match made in heaven for kanter. Y’all specialize in those gritty, hard work forwards (harkless, Aminu and and Ed Davis before he bounced). Portland might be showing other coaches how to utilize him and who to pair him with. You need a mobile, athletic, high motor four and spacing. I’m not sure there was a better roster to maximize kanter’s skillset. I don’t think that’s easy to replicate for most rosters though. It’ll be dependent on how much effort he maintains on defense though, so it’s in his hands. He’s looked way more active in Portland for sure.

To be fair...Wasn't the better roster going to be what brehs would have seen if KP was still a Knick coming into 2020?

We were exposed because we will never be able to see a ?, Dotson, ?, KP, Kanter lineup. I left those other positions as questions marks because having Timmy, DSJ and Knox as part of the team defensive scheme wasn't something we could fairly judge Kanter's skillset on as a way to determine if Kanter can benefit an actual functioning lineup.

Clearly, this will sound like a blasphemous comparison but I was recently converted to the Zion support bus(Not on the hype TRAIN, yet Ha) by my son's coach. "Nothing replaces hustle. He is willing and able to do what he'll need to do to see the basketball court as if he was drafted last and had something to prove. He doesn't need to be a knock down 3pt shooter, if he even develops a consistent 20ft, he'll be that much more deadly."

When I see Kanter, with all of his issues, that nikka will kill himself for you if you give him that support.

Watching Damian Lillard dominate with his range and off the dribble jumpers is really making me contemplate how valuable Garland can be if he is as advertised (the footage is limited and the numbers are small sample size I know). Zion is 1, it's hard to pass on Morant 2 but I have been back and forth on 3 being Barrett or Culver or Garland a LOT lately (Culver being my type of player but the other two having upside like crazy).

Draft expert drawing the same exact comparison, great minds think alike...

If I'm the Knicks at 2 and the Suns are desperate to move up for Morant from say...4...I'm definitely seeing what we can get done to swap picks, add more assets and pick Garland.

Based off that video it's:
