To be fair...Wasn't the better roster going to be what brehs would have seen if KP was still a Knick coming into 2020?
We were exposed because we will never be able to see a ?, Dotson, ?, KP, Kanter lineup. I left those other positions as questions marks because having Timmy, DSJ and Knox as part of the team defensive scheme wasn't something we could fairly judge Kanter's skillset on as a way to determine if Kanter can benefit an actual functioning lineup.
Clearly, this will sound like a blasphemous comparison but I was recently converted to the Zion support bus(Not on the hype TRAIN, yet Ha) by my son's coach. "Nothing replaces hustle. He is willing and able to do what he'll need to do to see the basketball court as if he was drafted last and had something to prove. He doesn't need to be a knock down 3pt shooter, if he even develops a consistent 20ft, he'll be that much more deadly."
When I see Kanter, with all of his issues, that nikka will kill himself for you if you give him that support.
I think you're giving Kanter more credit than he deserves fam. He played with KP for a half a season and it really made KP look like he can't recover on shooters bc he'd cheat to the middle so far out of necessity (I'm wondering if this is why Dotson started getting victimized by backdoor cuts out of no where this season too). The real trouble with Kanter is that you can construct a line-up that he fits in but he's not good enough to put that much effort into. You optimize your roster for stars or up and comers, not for role players. At the end of the day though, we had a season and a half to evaluate him and I came away thinking he plays greedy and behaves like a baby off the court. Portland is perfect for him though from a roster perspective and I've had a soft spot for them since Brandon Roy blew up...plus they grabbed Harkless...SJU alum who plays for the Puerto Rican National team? I ride for that.
