My only problem with this trade is why they didn't wait to see if there were better offers out there for KP? Why not test the trade market out there and listen to other offers on the table instead of pulling the trigger? I know we could've run away with better pieces than Smith and DJ.

I swear to Allah if I read other teams offered better pieces... :francis:

Yea i can see not waiting until the summer since the expirings are gone and you need them to move Lee and THJ... but there’s now way that Mavs offer isn’t still there next week. Why now?!?

Like dude said before, control the narrative. Don't give the opportunity for leaking and media spin and to miss out on any of the pieces of the deal they were stuck to.

we traded a star player on a rookie contract for cap space and late first round picks in 3-7 years.

First of all Mills was the one that gave THJR that contract, he gave him all that money when no one was offering anything close. Am I supposed to give Mills props now for being able to 'get rid of that contract' :heh:
Second they should've traded Courtney Lee last season when he was on fire and hitting threes, but I guess a rumored second round pick wasn't enough. Now it's amazing that he figured out a way to move that contract? Teams are out there moving Mozgov's contract with second round picks while we are throwing away a young star to clear cap space.

You're ignoring the fact that KP asked to be traded. At that point your hands are tied and you have to deal with the cards you got. You say "throwing away a young star" as if the org wanted to get rid of him. Again, immediate cap space + young prospects is the best option 2nd only to not trading KP at all. Tell me what would have been a better type of offer that's actually realistic?

And I'm not defending any of his GM moves. But if the team ends up with a core of KD, Kyrie, Zion, DSJ, and Knox next season how is that not a dub :yeshrug:

(Btw again, not defending the signing, but they offered Tim that contract going into the first season of a legit tank where cap flexibility for the next 4 years wasn't really relevant. They were locking him down hoping he'd hit his prime where 18 mil a year would be considered underpaid, ie Victor Oladipo. Don't forget THJ is getting paid that money through the ages of 24-28)

I feel a little different now about this. Kinda glad Knicks management shipped that faggit Kpee to Dallas. Dolan was probably like aiight i had enough of these faggits Wristflaps Pordrinkpiss and his brother. Get them the fukk out of town asap!! :scust:

Just wish we got a better quality young talent player in return. I dont want Smith Jr running the point

Just one more thing, is it a sure thing Jordan and Matthews will get bought out? Just dont wanna compromise the tank :francis:

We didn't get young prospects, we got DSJ who is not even close to value or talent of KP. So getting anyone or multiple players better than DSJ would be a start. DSJ is an undersized two guard, with a bad knee and already out of favor with Mavs organization. Talent equivalent of this trade would be Sixers trading Ben Simmons for Frank Ntilikina and cap space (Kanter and Hezonja).

Kawhi Leonard asked to be traded and sat out on purpose and Spurs still didn't flinch. Anthony Davis asked to be traded but Pelicans are mulling over if Kuzma, Lonzo, Ingram, Zubac and a pick is enough (we got dumber front office than Pelicans :mjlol:). Paul George asked to be traded and Pacers sent him to OKC for what they wanted. Melo wanted out of Denver and they took everything and more than they wanted from us. So just because a player asks to be traded doesn't mean you have to do it immediately.

Again as far as clearing cap space goes, it only seems to only be a problem for us. Mozgov was moved, OKC was able to move Melo's contract to Atlanta for a player they needed even though the whole league knew he had to be moved (he wouldn't come off the bench and OKC would have to pay $120 million luxury tax).

And THJR's contract is not even that awful when you look at money 3rd options get. Do we have to clear cap space for free agency right now? Do we need to sign two max players next free agency?
