You have Tim score 20 something a night as a second/third option and he'll get interest from teams to the point they could put out a FRP. I didn't say he would get a lottery pick, but he does have FRP value.

My take is if you can get his contract off the books, you cut and run even though I do agree that he can bump his value some when KP is back and especially if we add a second option. I've got a couple of reasons for this.

1) I don't trust the market on any contract that isn't expiring or cheap. We've seen THJ play beyond the value of his contract in stretches, but the extended look hasn't validated that (42% for 17.5 ppg last year and 39% for 21 ppg so far this year) and teams seem to be more interested in cap space for max guys than accumulating good players on mid-range contracts. Now on a reduced role, you hope the efficiency climbs and that he can stay close to scoring levels and I think it's a fair assumption but I don't think GM's would take the risk without larger samples of Tim playing at that high efficiency level. So I don't trust that he can be a FRP value until he's expiring mainly because GM's are a lot more cautious about adding to their cap and also because THJ may project to that value but he's yet to make an extended consistent run of play to validate it. Basically, he could get to that FRP value but it's no guarantee.

2) It frees up cap space, time and shots for our wing position players. That's Dot and Trier getting extra minutes plus a bigger role for those two guys and Knox as well. This one's fairly self-explanatory; we wouldn't just be looking at the cap space we freed up but also at a chance to either bring in a third team to take Wes for an additional asset or waiving Wes to open up time. This helps the tank; gives more reps and responsibility to the young guys; and puts two max players this offseason into the realm of realistic possibilities.

My main thought is "how much do we lose if THJ is off the roster" and I look at Dot and Trier to conclude "not enough to be greedy."

Didn’t Bill Simmons come up with that Matthews for Tim trade? Looks like a fake account.

Last two nights have been great for the tank :blessed:

It does look like a fake account, but we’ve known Simmons try to float ideas out there in favor of his friends (KD and Kleinman). First he floated this trade out, than while frank was benched he tried to add Frank to the deal which i can see as the Mavs trying to see if they can swindle us.

I’m doing this trade strictly for the tank. Tim has won us a good 3 to 4 games this season.

Ain’t no one giving a first round pick for Tim:mjlol:
yes they would lol

tims contract is reasonable, hes young, and hes a solid player
yall was on his cizzock the first month and a half of the season and nah yall acting like he a bum or something lol
plenty of teams would take on his contract, and worse players have been traded for first round picks

@DPresidential we've been looking for a trigger for the random fall off in Tim's game for a while now. This might explain it.

I sincerely don't know why we've got him going 34 mpg over the last 20 games in a season where we're not even chasing the playoffs. They should just give him time at least through the Christmas Break to rest and heal completely. There's no reason to rush him back or risk making things worse.

Not me, I’ve given him props at the beginning for playing consistently better but I just don’t care for the guy.

Are we holding out KP the entire year? If not we definately need to sit Tim before his shyt worsens. If he's gonna play like shyt it's not going to hurt the tank but I'd rather he be healthy long term.

Absolutely agreed.

But, breh, I know it sounds crazy but it is no coincidence that Fiz knows Timmy Sr. and knew Timmy Jr when he was up and coming.

There is a weird subplot that has nothing to do with our young guys developing. It almost feels like Fizdale has these hidden personal missions that he places ahead or at the same significance as youth development.

One of those things is "Mudiay, we goin' get you right...we goin' get you right.." The other? Fiz sensing a problem in Timmy's confidence and pressure from a NBA legend father and wanting to help Timmy Jr. show he's someone that Tim Sr. should be proud of.

It is why Timmy has the longest leash on the team.

Timmy is shooting poorly? Damn, I'm not going to sit him because it'll fukk his confidence up when his father criticizes him for playing trash...I'm going to leave him in to jump out of that stupor.

Timmy is doing well? Well, I could let him rest and give Dotson/Knox/Frank some more focused offensive opportunities. but I want him to put the icing on the cake with a memorable night. Tim Sr's got to be proud of him.

Timmy has a severed fukking foot? If the boy wants to play w/ one foot, suit him up so his personal critic can see that he is willing to play hard through injury.

It all leads to a showcase of Timmy that - as hard as it is for me to admit because I'm really rooting for him - is a detriment to a portion of the in game development opportunities regarding minutes.

I will note...Knox is the only one that I think benefits from Tim(when healthy). Timmy has shown to be a leader and facilitator when it comes to Knox in my opinion. I think he helps him on the court...but...Dotson, Trier, Frank...not so much.

This Timmy Sr/Timmy Jr subtext is riveting. With Fizdale being like the cool uncle on your mom side whose trying to help his nephew stay positive though his father ain't shyt

Probably a troll but I’d do it. Also, i just remembered recently that Haralabob works for the Mavs now, so kinda lends credence to why Simmons has been floating this out there for almost a month now.
They can send a first with Matthews if they wanna talk, otherwise I'm not eager to just dump Tim's salary. Tim is good, and he'll look even better when he's healthy and doesn't have to shoulder so much offensively. Plus there's no guarantee NY can sign another worth while player with the freed up cap space. NY should only try to move Tim if they get verbal commitments from 2 max players this off season imo.
