If KD were to sign with the Knicks, who is available next season to pair him with? There’s no fukkin way he’s coming here to play with the roster we currently have.
If KD does come, except some last minute fukkery.

Either Kyrie backs out of the nets deal or Kemba backs out with the celtics deal.

Or if KD cool with it, the best thing to do is wait until at the end of the season. We won’t be good so we should be able to get another top 5 pick and have more assets to make necessary trades to make a run for the chip for 2020 season.

I’m not saying trade all assets, but you’ll have RJ, Knox, Mitch, DSJ and top 5 pick. Those players should be able to get top players at any position.

This is all I'm anticipating. RJ, Knox and Mitch.
:wow:

I love having players that are natural mismatches. RJ and Knox on the wings would are both big for their positions and play downhill style. They're hella young and will need time to sharpen everything up and also (maybe more importantly) to develop their IQ, but if they develop right it's a really tough combo. Then add in Mitch who plays above just about everybody on the court with defenses collapsing to stop RJ or Knox. Fam, that really could be something. I like DSJ as another defense collapsing athlete too, but for spacing sake his jumper developing becomes much more important in this core (sidenote: I'm more optimistic that he can force defenses to respect his range than most). Our offense could be really overwhelming if these cats grow together the right way.

And regardless of the debates, I'll just throw in that if you ever need to slow down a player 1-3, Frank can slot in for any of the DSJ/RJ/Knox while the other two carry the load on offense...but he absolutely has to get that jumper up to snuff same as DSJ.

I definitely think Knox floor/mid on his current trajectory is to be a Kyle Kuzma level player......

However, his shot is so clean he could become something a lot better. Like a Middleton/Tatum level player #2 option on a winner. Once he's able to absorb contact better. A lot of his inefficiency was people bumping into him will go down.

Next year free agency is trash. Biggest name is Draymond

Yeah, that class is wack. I think the real value is to plan for 2021 and see if anyone becomes available at the trade deadlines (feels like one or two stars have been available per year lately). Targeting 2021 would make it so that we could eat bigger expirings and take on more assets for the favor. That'd give us the war chest for whichever beast RFA says he won't re-sign with his team and wants a trade. I want a max contract's worth of 2 year deals out of this offseason.

This is the FA class that I've got my eyes on.

Sidenote: That's also enough time for our young cats to develop their games and give us a better idea of what they'll be long term.

Yeah 21 is next good FA and that's mostly based on Giannis, AD, and Beal who you got to hope step up going forward. I see Jonathon Isaacs is in 2021 FA too. I think he has potential but Orlando keeps drafting Centers and PF I mean shyt they got like 10 of them now. Then 2022 is interesting too because last year's draft class becomes FA and that was a really talented class.

I could see us offering players like Randle and Rozier 2 years of high salary regardless if we get KD. Next years draft is full of PG's so a Rozier/DSJ PG rotation isn't the worst if they expect to draft a PG too.....

Tomorrow is a big day brehs. Win or Lose. With the top caliber free-agents taking multiple meetings, we still may have to wait a day or two for news.

When does NBA free agency start?

Sunday, June 30 at 6 p.m. ET is the beginning of NBA free agency for the 2019-20 season, and players will then be free to meet with teams to discuss terms on a potential contract.

However, no free agents can actually sign any contracts (with a few exceptions) until noon ET on July 6

KD keeps throwing hints with the colors of his headphones and his leg cast, selling his Cali crib, and residing in NY and walking the streets and posting flicks with Oak. His agent also being seen with RJ.

All signs point a certain way.

My only thing on guys like Randle and Rozier is that I could see teams that whiff on the top of FA offering them overpays just to come away with something. I really think this is shaping up to be a sloppy spending summer for franchises that see a void where GS was standing. I'm a big Jonathon Isaacs fan btw, he flashed serious upside as the season progressed. Orlando is bizarre with the big man obsession, they're over here limiting every guy they pick since they all play the same positions.

Assuming guys like Kyrie, D'angelo, and Kemba sign other places ( which looks likely ) there's not a lot of feasible options at pg for The Knicks:

NBA Free Agency 2019: Point Guards

The Knicks could sign a stop gap pg, someone like Patrick Beverly, but I doubt he's looking for a short term contract. There are also some younger guys like Rozier who could potentially turn into a Beverly type of point guard, but honestly nobody on the list screams like a home run type of signing. I do think the Knicks should make it a priority to bring back Kadeem Allen, regardless of who else gets signed. There's only a small sample size to go by, but Kadeem looked like he was the best pg on the squad at times last year. Kadeem showed he's an unselfish player, who's quick, shifty, and has a decent handle. he's a pretty good shooter, active off of the ball, and attacks and creates pretty well off of the catch. Kadeem is also big enough to guard pg's and sg's, and he plays hard whenever he's on the court. All things considered, I think Kadeem is a good fit next to Barrett; The Knicks could play Kadeem next to RJ and let him be the primary ball handler at times. I also think Rozier and Mudiay are okay fits next to Barrett too, and I wouldn't mind if The Knicks consider signing either for the right price after thinking about it( plus, it would suck to waste a year of player development on Mudiay). Let DSjr and whoever gets signed duke it out for the starting spot in training camp, steel sharpens steel and shyt. Next year's draft will be filled with high potential guards, so the Knicks shouldn't feel too pressed if shyt doesn't work out.
