I honestly think we'd be better off with any true stretch 4 than Randle. DSJ needs space to operate. RJ does too. Fizdale's damned system was a series of lateral passes and then a pick and roll...it needs spacing to function well. Give me a piece that fits over a bad fit that's productive. Specifically, gimme someone that will help increase the value of our young cheap assets instead of take away from it. I want pieces that compliment our young guys.

So who?

I don’t see them making the same mistake they did with the Hardaway contract. I think they will go after the top tier FAs and low ball whomever is left over.

I put a Randle signing and a D-Lo signing in that category. Betting on improvements and hoping to lord that the player shows no regression whatsoever because it will absolutely kill their value and trap you. But I'm basing that on the assumption that there's so much cap space this summer, somebody will overpay these guys. At reasonable costs, sure I take them.

Whats the penalty for not hitting the cap floor? For some reason I couldnt find a straight answer on Google
There really isn’t. What happens is the money unused gets redistributed among the players and serves as a bonus. If I have 15 players but I’m $30 mil under the floor (extreme example), everyone gets a $2 mil raise.

Come labor negotiation time, owners will hold that against you though

Short term deal to a veteran, I'd try to overpay one of the morris twins or Mirotic on 1+1 type of deal. If we're looking at long term, I'd rather try to land Portis for less money than Randle commands and a better fit. If none of that lands, go full band-aid mode and grab Mike Scott or Jared Dudley (I know...I know) for cheap.

The key here is that none of those options takes the ball out of DSJ/Barrett's hands. We can increase those guys values and roles in this kinda build. Randle is taking reps and hurting spacing imo. That's not the end of the world if everyone else comes back a much improved shooter, but our projected starting line-up needs another spacer.

DSJ/Barrett/Knox/???/Robinson - you gotta get someone with gravity out the three point line for that to work imo.

I just don’t get why you can’t be patient on a 20 year old on a cheap contract. We’ve sucked for so long it’s either be patient with what’s going on or find another team to root for. Now I’m not with the tanking shyt this year I wanna see some progress.Frank should have the same leashas Dennis and Mudiay

1. He was scouted and picked by the peyote smoking mfer that will go down as one of the WORST execs in team history.
2. Dudes his age/same experience have progressed more.
3. His French Team coach won't even start him.

He should be playing in White Plains instead of the Garden if you want to talk about patience.

I’m All For Having Patience For A Young Guy, The Problem Is People Watch Frank And Don’t See This Untapped Potential, They See A Timid Guy Who Doesn’t Look Like He Can’t Compete In The Best Basketball League On The Planet

Dudes Looking Like The PG Equivalent To Cleanthony Early

I PRAY Frank Shuts Me Up And Proves Me Wrong But I Don’t Like What My Gut Says About Him

I was rooting for Cle because he was from the hood :to:.

They caught him slipping being a thirst bucket at Perfections:mjcry:

They need to spend the money. If they cannot get a super-star, then only offer nice one-year contracts to reach the cap. Then try again next year....rinse and repeat until we find someone worthy of a multi-year contract.
