Doing fine. Still booking sports, obscure as fukk sports, but keeps the checks coming in and able to do it from the comforts of home will be a longer haul for the unlucky who have been furloughed around town but the 1k a week unemployment to stay safe is more than a lot of those in the service industry workers were making. We will bounce back like everyone else will might be a more bumpy ride here than other places though.

A lot of people haven't gotten it and might not get it depending on how states choose to handle a potential shortfall.

If I’m out of a job and can’t feed my family and I haven’t gotten my stimulus check nor can I get in contact with the unemployment office and when I do, it’s weeks before it kicks in. Either open things back up, help give me money to survive or I will do what I have to do to survive and feed my family. A lot of people are nearly at that point if they aren’t already.

You'll never get through calling these unemployment offices. Honestly you should find the twitter or any other social media pages for your state's unemployment office and hit them up there. I'm not sure what other states are doing but NY state has been hitting people via dm, asking people for their number and calling them back. Also it's a guaranteed way to get some kind of contact.

I’m working from home, but a friend of mine has been trying to contact the unemployment office for weeks, and can’t get through. A lot of people don’t think to look up on social media to get into contact with them and are sorely depending on getting through by phone which isn’t happening.

Unfortunately it’s just not enough resources and people on hand enough to help meet demand.

Nobody has yet explained to me why people think opening shyt back up automatically = massive revenue and a "return to normalcy". Is this fake it till you make it? Pretend nothing is wrong and hope everybody is stupid enough to believe it?

They could open up all the malls, bars and casinos TOMORROW but anybody with sense will still stay away. You think I'm carrying my black ass to Vegas to breathe in recycled air, touch surfaces a gang of sweaty mf touched and be in close quarters with smokers and the elderly? You think a buffet sounds appetizing to me right now?

And as far as the "well people need to make money somehow" crowd goes... Opening up shyt prematurely just to have to close it again because nobody's coming in, or the number of people stupid enough to do so doesn't justify having a full staff won't help anybody. Open Vegas up just to lay people off again in a month or two because death tolls surged? For what? Open Vegas up so the international tourists they rely on (because make no mistake, American tourism is NOT what keeps Vegas afloat) can continue to not come?

You can force people back to work but you can't force them to engage in nonessential activities. Yeah there's degenerate gamblers and others just eager to get out the house and "have some fun", but do you really think those people can sustain the economy out there?
