See this is why I go so hard for Lamar. Some of yall come up with the most insane things to try to discredit him. Just say you don't like him instead so we don't waste time reading your posts.

Twice as hard, for half as much....they always wanna discredit a brotha

During previous MVP campaigns for (Manning, Brady, Mahomes, and Warner) - were there discussions about their "weapons"?
-Manning had two 1100 yard WRs when he won MVP
-Tom Brady had a 1500 yard WR
-Mahomes had a 1500 yard WR AND 1300 yard TE
-Kurt Warner had Marshall Faulk who had 2400 scrimmage yards. 1400 rushing and 1K receiving

If he wins this third MVP, then they have to win the SB or we’re going to have to have a discussion. Can’t be out here winning MVP and having regular season success and it not carry over to the playoffs.

Gotta hold em to GOAT level standards like we do for people on that level.

No excuses.
I mean, we already hold him to that standard. We help Peyton Manning to that standard. Unlike Peyton, Lamar isn’t rolling into the playoffs against Brady (Mahomes) in 06 with a top to bottom better roster. To be fair, that was probably last year when they folded collectively.

The weapons argument has specifically not been the case because Patriots fans used that for years to argue Brady deserved more MVPs than he received.

And you had people (they know who they are) making excuses last year about that performance.

Using the KC elite defense argument, while overlooking Allen played that same exact defense the weakness before but didn’t want to hear the excuses for him coming up short.

You had a poster literally making a thread blaming the media for it :mjlol:

He's a Superbowl away from many things. He's the second best QB in Ravens history if he retired today behind Flacco (3 AFC title games, Superbowl mvp, most road playoff wins NFL history, Multiple elite playoff runs where he was dueling/matching Brady)...but Lamar probably a HOFer if he retired today.
Joe Flacco does not have multiple elite playoffs runs. The SB run is the closest one. Otherwise, he had some good games against Patriots defenses that everyone had good games against during that era 😭. The year they went to the SB he put up 28 points against the Patriots, the exact same amount Matt Schaub put up the week before. Flacco’s first playoff win over Brady he threw 10 passes. fukk are you talking about?

I have an even better factoid for you. Im not sure about the entirety of the NFL's history, but in the last 40 years,.only Brady(2010) and Jackson(2019) have won the MVP, in a full season without a WR or TE who reached 1000 yards..Elway did in 87, but it was strike shortened. Only other who may have done it, is Favre in 96. I know Brooks had over a G in 95, but if my memory is correct, he got hurt in 96. Freeman took over in 97. Im assuming he had 1K, gonna hit up PFR to confirm

You can add 96.Favre to the list. Bullshyt MVP seasons that dont get criticized enough is 2008 Manning and 1990 Montana. Extremely suspect selections

Why are idiots having NBA like conversations in here? Lamar doesn't need to win a ring to validate regular season MVPs. Football is a total team sport. There was a decade where people thought Dan Marino might be the best QB they've ever seen. How many Super Bowls did he win?

This is all new, garbage discourse.... engagement farming etc. It's not the NBA. Lamar doesn't play defense. He doesn't play special teams. He doesn't block. He doesn't run routes. He doesn't draw up the plays.

Basketball is as well, yet that still doesn't stop that same discourse from taking place.

There's more logic to it on a basketball court. There's less players involved, the best players are playing 40+ minutes in the playoffs and they are playing at both ends of the court. Some players are also dictating the pace or what they are choosing to do on offense along with the coach.

But that doesn't stop the basketball discourse from being dumb and it doesn't stop this football discourse from being idiotic.

The only sport where it makes less sense than football is baseball. Just this year they’ve had a loss where the receiver failed to keep both feet in bounds on a game tying score in the final seconds, a loss where the skill positions had 2 fumbles in their own territory where it led to 6 points for the other team as well as their kicker missed 2 field goals & the OC calling a terrible play on the game tying 2 point conversion in the final seconds, and a loss by 5 where the kicker left 7 points on the board. Those events independent of the quarterback are the difference between the ravens hoping to steal the 2 seed as opposed to being in the driver’s seat for the 1 seed. Unless the quarterback just repeatedly fails with the game in the balance with bad throws or bad decisions, it’s not a conversation worth having in football.
