The Los Angeles Lakers have been checking around the league this week to gauge Pau Gasol's trade value, according to sources briefed on the discussions. Sources told ESPN.com that the Lakers have been contacting teams in an effort to acquire a top-10 pick in Thursday's draft. The Lakers also are seeking an established player along with the pick if they're to part with Gasol. A deal was not imminent as of Wednesday afternoon. The Lakers might have an even tougher sell with Metta World Peace, who also has been shopped in order to gauge his trade value. While the Lakers would be looking for considerably less, such as a late first-round pick or perhaps some cap relief, World Peace's contract obligations (two years, $15 million remaining on his deal) -- combined with a 15 percent trade kicker -- might prove too much for another team to bear.
I hope the Wiz Kids select MKG and accept the trade for Pau and they can give us Blatche. Hopefully someone can take Ron's contract so MKG can be a starter, and we do that trade with the Wolves and get Beasley, I think we are good for the rest of the offseason.

Nobody wants his soft ass for 19 mil a year especially with the new luxury tax rules. If his contract wasn't dam near max money he would a been gone and Lakers would a got something nice. Realistically, the Lakers have 2 options:

- Keep him and pay the luxury tax
- Trade him to shed salary but get peanuts in return.

Laker fans cant grasp that reality. Most believe the league is required to help them in order to keep them competitive.

Delusional ass nikkas. :hamster:

The Atlanta Hawks have been pursuing Pau Gasol, The Times has learned. Nothing imminent, but Josh Smith would be key piece going to Lakers.

Separetely, Lakers interested in Kentucky's Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, would be open to trading Pau for Top-5 pick and right package o' players

I would cream my pants if they dealt Pau for Smith and Marvin Williams (hopefully Zaza too).

Mitch would have to immediately be on the phone with NJ offering Bynum in a sign-and-trade for Deron Williams.

:ahh:

Edit: I was saying during most of the season that Gasol to the Hawks for Josh Smith in some type of deal would make sense for both teams.

Thats just idiotic right there. No need to trade both. Lakers could legitimately get Dwight for one.

man fukk it, imma talk myself into it. I wouldn't mind trading Pau for Josh Smith. But, if we would do that, we should get Beasley, and just use the trade exception, and hopefully trade Ron for a late 1st rounder like Marquis Teague. Not bad, but the move I like the most is trading Pau for MKG, who would be the perfect fit on the Lakers, with Beasley being our 6th man or even starting to spread the floor. We are gonna stay with Bynum forever, I don't see them trading Bynum even for Dwight anymore.
