Kobe still a cash cow, face of the franchise, and in his 17th year is the league's leading scorer and leading vote getter for the All-Star Game.

It's laughable to even joke about Kobe going anywhere. He's going to finish next season and retire.

yeah lakers sell more seats then the heat... but merch makes more money than anything... and lebron is killin kobe in merch 2 years straight... lebron makes more for miami.

Debateable since the numbers are never released. Kobe was the leading jersey seller internationally last year. Derrick Rose had the most inside the US. Lin, Kobe, LeBron, and Melo rounded out the top 5 in that order so your post doesn't make much sense unless you have some other numbers.

Kobe gets the nod as GOAT Laker from me...by this time in his career Magic was retired for like four or five seasons already...kobe's in year 17, still putting up 30 5 and 5...he's essentially the KAJ of guards, except he's played every single game of his career in the purple and gold...by the time he hangs 'em up, he'll have been a pillar of the team for the vast majority of 2 solid decades...at least 5 chips, and singularly dominate damn near the laker record book for just about everything....GOAT Laker....I almost can't wait for Kobe to retire just so the nostalgic powers of hindsight can do what they do

Magic carried a :flabbynsick: LWO team to a Finals. As much as I love the Bean (and I do think he's the best after Magic), Bean isn't built to do that. Earvin would improve your team instantly because of his game vs Kobe's game. Of course Bean's numbers will be greater esp scoring and what he's doing in year 7 of his career is retarded, but Earvin is the GOAT Laker IMO.

The Lakers are gonna resign dwight.John Wall is the player I can see going to the Lakers in a few years.Kobe will get 10-14 million a season his last 2-3 years and go after malone on the scoring list while piggybacking dwight and wall for #6 .Kobe will have played wit the most talent in the history of the game by the time he retires

Dwight is gone. Lakers suck and :umad:

I can only assume you're talking about the '90-'91 Lakers squad here...and considering it's best players were a 31 year old Magic and a still in his prime 29 year old James Worthy along with a still youthful sam perkins and a young Divac ...i'd be hard pressed to call that team :flabbynsick: by any stretch...Kareem had retired and it obviously it wasn't the best team of their run (the 80's Lakers and Celtics were historically stacked teams)...but it's not like Magic just went out there and won 58 games that season, and made some improbable miracle run to the finals with a bunch of washed up bums...talent wise outside of Bean and Magic, that last showtime era finals team was closer to the last two lakers title teams than it was to a :flabbynsick: collection of bums, but I digress...kobe will never win the glory days nostalgia argument based on abstract narratives and what have you, not now at least...and Magic's obviously one of absolutely all time greats, so I can't be mad at the opinion...but if hard pressed to choose along with my personal opinion, I'll have to show deference to Jerry West, Shaq and Magic himself...who have all gone record and deemed Kobe the greatest laker

they're modest and humble.

I believe Worthy was hurt in that Finals as well. Byron was definitely hurt and I remember that vividly. Portland was the team that season and Magic got the LWO to upset them. Portland had no business losing to that team, but Magic made it happen. :ld:

I won't hate on someone saying Bean is better, but Magic is and will always be the GOAT Laker IMO.

Let's not forget the plethora of players Kobe has played with in his career. When you consider everything...including what's he's doing this years laker team...I can't make him the greatest laker ever.

Shaq
Karl Malone
Gary Payton
Steven Nash
Dwight Howard
Pau gasol
Artest
Eddie jones
Robert horry

....1 MVP

If they don't make the offs this year he's part of the biggest team fail in HISTORY..most people assumed this was a damn near title LOCK..turn around and not make the playoffs at all? Lol. fukking Dwight made the offs in Orlando with that semi-trash squad Smh

Played with the most dominant modern center (Shaq) post wilt for 3 of his rings.

How is it going to look years from now when we see magic...Jordan...bird...Kobe...lebron...etc on that hall of fame list. And Kobe is the only one with only 1 mvp...career statistics worse than Bron, Jordan, etc?

Shaq also has 1 MVP. Victims of circumstance.

Magic and Kareem also played with tons of high caliber players. Bird did as well. Russell and Jordan too. Duncan and Olajuwon really the only players in my top 10 that played with average players on a consistent basis throughout their careers.

This season was trash from the beginning due to a number of factors. Coaching change, ownership changing directions, key players in and out of the lineup, nagging injuries and recoveries, no team chemistry, etc, etc. The Lakers shouldn't be as bad as they are but there are many outside factors contributing to their shyttyness.

Lakers won't be great again until Metta/Gasol is gone, the need another 3 and 4, who's athletic and a space 4 that can play defense, they transistion on both sides of the ball is pathetic, especially defensively
