I heard that. I just didn't think it meant anything serious.Said we need more Marquette guys and stop drafting these Duke cats.

Any of y’all catch wade throwing shots at Winslow during the 4th quarter?
What he say
Said we need more Marquette guys and stop drafting these Duke cats.

Pat said the same thing.
They're gonna draft UK guys not Duke guys
Probably goes back to what Riley said about Duke players and ho the Heat front office thought Winslow and other Duke players have this elitist attitude about them. Like apparently this comment was more about Winslow than a shot at Duke according to some.
Watch this vid where Riley said it himself.
Riley said this the night they drafted Tyler Herro so yes Winslow was still here.Interesting.
Pat's a Kentucky guy. That's his alma mater. So this can be viewed as a jokey node to his alma mater, or it can be viewed as a veiled shot to Winslow. Shane Battier is also a Duke guy for what it's worth. I don't know, this is all interesting. Winslow was still here when Pat said this.
Winslow had alot of self confidence from the looks of what's being said. I guess he knew something about his skills, that we didn't. They wanted him to play "hurt"? I need to know what "hurt" means in this instance.Riley said this the night they drafted Tyler Herro so yes Winslow was still here.
Thing is after Winslow got traded Ira Winderman (sp) was on the radio sharing the front office's reported displeasure with Winslow and also pointed at this remark by Riley.
The Heat front-office felt Winslow was a bit entitled and refused to play hurt. The entitled part was because he apparently thought they were gonna hand him the key to the franchise once Wade left. He (reportedly) was disappointed that they brought in Jimmy Butler to be the man as he thought he was next in line and would be featured more. Some also brought up how he took it upon himself to claim the starting PG spot last summer.
Again, this is per both Heat beat-writers (Ira Winderman and also Ethan Skolnik) so i take it with a grain of salt especially since we only heard about this AFTER he left.
but at the same time..."where there is smoke..."
The playing hurt thing i feel the FO has to be careful with that. You don't wanna be viewed by players around the league as a team that pushes players to play through pain as if you don't care about their wellbeing enough to let their body heal.Winslow had alot of self confidence from the looks of what's being said. I guess he knew something about his skills, that we didn't. They wanted him to play "hurt"? I need to know what "hurt" means in this instance.
But I couldn't imagine Winslow wanting to be handed the keys and wanting to be the guy..
