They probably would've held onto him but were in a bind when it came to roster space. They see the Clippers fortifying their roster, so they can't just sit there and let a disabled player take up a valuable roster spot.

Wade is our Bill Russell, Kobe, MJ, all rolled into one when you think about it.

1. He was the first player to bring us a title.

2. Statistically he's our all time greatest player.

3. Even though we've had players on this franchise who will be ranked ahead of him in league wide all-time rankings(Shaq and LeBron) wade stayed with Miami the longest and did the most for this franchise. Ala Shaq and Magic being ranked ahead of Kobe all time in NBA rankings, yet Kobe being regarded as the Greatest Laker. Same with Wade with Miami. Wade is the Greatest Heat.

I love UD, I love Zoe, but Wade should be the very first Heat player with a statue. And it's loooooong overdue that Wade has a street in the city named after him. This Kobe tragedy has taught me that we need to shower our legends while they're still here. I can't wait for his jersey retirment festivities.
