Bro did you even watch the vid!?!?!
The thread is proof that you don't need to know boxing to post shyt in a boxing thread
Its really easy to understand - the Kovalev vs Ward 1 fight as a whole was worth "X'
Team Kovalev got the lion share (60%) of "X"
Kovalev himself got 75% of his Teams lion share.
Ward on the other hand negotiated with ROC NATION to get guarantees for his fights. ROC NATION, either desperate to sign someone of his stature or very optimistic about Wards revenue drawing abilities, guaranteed him certain guarantees for each fight in his contract. The problem is, they foolishly guaranteed him more than the event is worth. So contractually they have to pay him what they promised. But since they promised him more than the what the ROC NATION side made in their 40% of "X", they lost money.
And the same thing happened in the rematch. ROC NATION had to pay Ward what they promised, and what they promised him is more than what Ward vs Kovalev 2 was worth. So once again ROC NATION lost money.
Kovalev getting a 75% take of all profits/revenue isn't an unusual deal in boxing.
Ward getting significantly overpaid based on what the event is worth is whats unusual here. ROC NATION doesn't have the experience as a boxing promoter yet to recognize the err in their ways. But now they do since they see they lost money on both Kovalev-Ward fights.
