What's wrong with being online while playing single player?

To interact with my friend's list and see what games they're playing... I might want to play some matches of something with them when I'm done with the game I'm on.
Just basic communication stuff. Sony is implementing that share feature so people can stream their gameplay with their friends while it's going on too.
People on Xbox Live play campaigns and chat with friends in party chat all the time.
I just don't see the point of going out of your way to logout of PSN or XBox Live while playing a single player game.
All well and good. But likewise, I don't see the point in forcing folks to be online just to play offline games either. Nor the point of anyone even loosely defending or making light of it when there's practically no positives, yet a slew of potential negatives.
its a disgusting practice for the consumer but i see a reason from a business standpoint to do it.I can't believe some of you all are defending this. On principle alone it is horrible. Like Loose said what positives are there for this. I can't think of any for why a system should always have to be connected just for you to access your games. How does requiring you to always be online enhance the user experience in the least bit...smh.

They're doing it to in order to make it harder to play bootlegs on their console.
And I'm not really defending it, I'm just not blowing the shyt out of proportion when I know mostly everybody in this thread probably wasn't going to buy an Xbox regardless of what they did, and the potential "slew" of negatives wouldn't effect them anyway.
I don't like it because of it's implications on the used game market... you know something that actually matters to me. Not playing a game offline when I practically never EVER do that.

Very shortsighted of them to just assume everyone has a good internet connection or connection at all to require it. This especially sucks for a lot of people if that means Xbox live continues not being free.
