But there is no problem. This is something you merely conjured up in your imagination.
We both know this isn't true. Lets not lie to ourselves here. I've known dudes who grew up in the suburbs, never wanted for anything, and had two loving parents but want to "fit in" and try to live and act like they're from the hood. I wouldn't say the rapper is to blame though. Its the responsibility of the listener to live a certain way. I thought I made that distinction clear. Also in those cases I wouldn't even entirely blame the music. Peer pressure and wanting to fit into an image is the main culprit but at the same time, lets not act like its not at least in SOME part influenced by certain images in our media. I think it would be dishonest to act like it has no effect.
How can you rationalize the music of which that real life manifestation inherently comes from and not end up rationalizing the "real life manifestations"? It's either you're for it in some way or you're not. You're trying to remove the 2 which is not really consistent to logic. Infact you're rationalizing your own cognitive dissonance by disregarding the human behind the creation of this music.
But I'm still perplexed as to how the music is "ignorant" to you? Especially as it pertains to Kodak. Kodak Black is a human being with three dimensional feelings and dreams. why does it all get compounded to being a barbarbian buffoon? Because of all the things you secretly enjoy from it?
Are these songs not inherently filled with introspection?
Look breh, I'm not going to go back and forth because I don't want it to turn into one of those things where its just two people going back and forth in the thread and making up most of the thread with a debate.
You called me out and I responded, but you still didn't answer my question as far as applying your logic in regards to my first post which is that just like you want to come at me for having my own personal morals and standards for human behaviors but despite that, listen to some music, not necessarily kodak black, that espouses stuff like that may be counter to my standard and beliefs, I can throw the same logic back to you in the sense that you must advocate for no hypocrisy on this issue and therefore, believe that someone who has moral standards or moral objections to certain things talked about in some music should not listen to said music without committing some sort of sin. Therefore the only people who can listen to such music carry that outlook into their real life which means you have no moral objections about the things that say...Brotha Lynch Hung talks just to use him as an example again, in your real life otherwise you're a cac or some unforgivable hypocrite.
Also finally, while you can cherry pick, if someone says something like I'm already black and don't need some black bytch, then that isn't the most enlightened thing to say is it? To more directly address your post,
Never said he was a bad person but he isn't the first dude I'll think of who I want my daughter dating either. I'm not denying the "3-D nature" of these people's personality but at the same time I'm not going to sugar coat and put a thin intellectual veneer over my belief that some behaviors in a real life context are still worthy of being denounced and looked down upon regardless of my musical preference.
The person who I responded to was commenting that despite his disrespect towards black women, that a lot of black women will still go to his shows. All I was saying is that I think everyone acts out on this hypocrisy to some extent. These girls will get on twitter and take a high ground how they find it so disrespectful but still show up at his show. The only issue is when these ideas and actions become part of real life. Not simply ideas and words in a song.
