Jordan's team also won the division that year, won 62 games and ultimately won the title. His MVP award was clearly deserved, in addition to his finals MVP.
Let's wait till Kobe finishes out the year before we use 30 games as a measuring stick to 82.

This is why Kobe is all smiles about this season. He is able to take tons of shots and he is allowed to be a total sieve on defense, and no one will dare call him out on it because he's leading the league in scoring at age 34.
He's inching closer to Kareem's scoring record and even though they pick up loss after loss, it's always someone else's fault.
Kobe playing honest defense and the Lakers using a more balanced approach on offense would probably get them more wins, but the resulting Kobe statlines from Kobe would be less than spectacular and he wouldn't be in this "elite" discussion anymore.

You havent watched Kidd play this season. They're on the same level this year defensively. Only difference is Kidd is giving an efffort and Kobe isn't. If Kobe tries, i'm pretty sure he's a better defender than Kidd, this season.
