 Yeah I thought Bron sounded bad with his tip toeing and deflecting shyt "its about supporting the family, we have to do better as a society, violence is not the way". If he didn't want to say black or discuss race specifically he couldve just kept it about relating to folks in the hood which he has talked about several times already in his career. So I was a little disappointed

But of course Kobe had to top him and flat out say it isn't about race at all :mjlol:

Let's be honest, these athletes have a platform that they truthfully don't want. Muhammad Ali and Jim Brown aren't walking through that door to help make a difference with said platform and be leaders, political statements in 2014 come in the form of t shirts and hashtags, that's just the reality of it.

Kobe is taking a stand and I like it, I'd wish he'd speak more about the police brutality and how it's a cops vs blacks thing but if he wants to go the it's deeper than race then okay better than nothing because atleast people will listen to him. Regardless if Lebron is doing it to me trendy or Kobe is doing it to deflect from past activism missteps they are speaking on the matter, this is as good as it's going to get.

The one thing that's bothered me about these athletes comments is that they think this is some worldly issue. But it's not. It's a black issue. If you want the other side to understand, you have to let them know from jump that this is a black issue.

Kobe is on that "we are the world" sentiment Kenny Smith is on explaining the shirt being worn.

I'll pass.

These fukkers are about to turn this into "save darfur" "free Tibet" trendy

This is the same trend that in part got Obama elected. I don't think the whole bandwagon effect can be dismissed outright because it can be effective. Hippies had their tie-dye shirts we have I CAN'T BREATH like or not and people should like it even if it's for the wrong reasons like trying to be hip. You just want the message out there at this point.

He's taking an umbrella whitewashed stand. That's not directly helping black lives diluting the issue. NY is an apartheid state and Ferguson is a city slush fund for a crooked municipality that preys on black victims

It's annoying

why do some black folk always revert back to the "at least he did (insert empty gesture)"

Why are we so loathe to call a spade a spade?

like I said in another thread, they dont understand what its like to be BLACK FOREAL!
Until theyre caught up on some Carlton Banks "DWB shyt" (and even then they dont get it) theyre stuck in that "we just like white folk mentality cause they got bread.
they not
That shyt a few years ago with Tori Hunter the first thing I think of when it comes to black athletes and the law
this muthafukka calls you about a break in in HIS house you come there, see his black ass, and automatically act on... "LETS ARREST THIS ******!" :deadmanny:
I hope Quinn joins the Taliban on Homeland
