Kobe left his longtime GF who was close to Kobe's parents and married Vanessa. The girl Kobe left was literally with him from the very beginning. Pam also didn't like how Vanessa's mom lives in a mansion that was paid for by Kob, and he offered his parents $250k for a home. Kob lived on the mainline just outside of Philly. You can't get a townhouse with $250k where he grew up. So imagine your son giving his MIL a mansion and you can't get $450k for a standard suburban crib. Kob will always be my guy but that's FckdUpB...

It's still petty, materialistic shyt that fukked up the relationship. I understand the frustration early on, but to keep going at it for close to 2 decades is ridiculous. Plus I'm sure Kobe would've bought them a better house later on. Dude is worth close to a billie now, and his estate will only increase. No sense to hold grudges over petty shyt. Missed out on being close to the grandkids SMH. Hopefully V and them can reconcile.

All of that shyt was unnecessary.

Kobe gave his mom in law a home because he was separated from vanessa and that was part of his way of getting her back. He transferred multiple houses to Vanessa and mom in laws name


Also, when Kobe first arrived in LA he bought a house in Pacific Palisades and his parents lived with him. He probably intended for them to have it but when he got with Vanessa everything blew up

He took Brandy to the prom for the look. I went to proms with chicks that had BFs, it's more common than you think. He was with the chick from about age 15 to 21 but back then he wanted to be the next Will Smith so he kept everything low. He met his first love through his cousins who lived in Yeadon, just outside of Southwest Philly (Jellybean is from Southwest). She was the one Kob would cry to after losing games, she would watch game film with him, she was his rock basically in the beginning, and didn't run her mouth. She was devastated when he married Vanessa, took her yrs to recover.

and the fact remain, his mother in law lived better than his parents. Kobe's Uncle was a hooper (Pam's brother), Kobe's cousin was a hooper (Pam's nephew), Jellybean was a hooper (and he was 6'9), and his grandfather used to mail him vhs tapes of nba games. Kobe didn't become great out of nowhere, it was in his blood. He offered to buy his grandmother a house but she didn't want to leave her house in Southwest Philly.

At the end of the day, he offered his parents $250k when they requested $450k. Jellybean sent him to Lower Merion (one of the best public schools in the philly area), introduced him to his b-ball network, had Shamgod work with him on his handle, had him working out with John Lucas, Mo Cheeks, Tim Legler, and Sixers players. Kobe wouldn't have been GOATbe without the tutelage and lineage.

Apparently, Natalia has asthma so playing basketball was pretty much out of the question for her. It's too physically demanding for her being an asthmatic, she plays volleyball instead. Gigi was really the daughter that was going to continue Kobe's basketball legacy .


Maybe, when they get older Bianka or Capri will be inspired to play basketball to honor both Kobe & Gigi. They should not be forced to do that though...only if they want to.

part of Pam's gripe (she's the alpha between her and Jellybean) is that he didn't sign a pre-nup and married her in Cali. Imagine raising a son to be an athletic prodigy and he risks his financial future by not signing a pre-nup and marrying an opportunistic latina a few weeks after meeting her.

what I will say is that Vanessa earned her keep by weathering the storms for 18+ yrs and having 4 kids together.

I just hope Kobe took care of his parents, sisters, nieces & nephews in his will.

It just don’t feel right. The man we watched ball all them years on the court. Warred with other stanbases over. Ran around the house with his jersey on screaming after a game winning play.

I swear it don’t even feel like he dead. Feels like he being his same ol private self hidden away from the world for some much deserved rest.

And this is why I say it is important to have conversations with your kids, son’s especially. You can covet and lust over these other groups of women if you want to but most have one agenda and that’s to find a rich Black athlete or entertainer to take care of them ( hello Demetria Obilor). They will gladly go along with, support, and encourage rifts with your family because that’s more for them and theirs. This is not exclusive to white, asian, Latina, and mixed race women but you definitely see it more amongst those groups. Had this been a Black woman with no employable skills and no ventures of her own throughout the marriage in this day age she would be called every name in the book on this site. Go back and read that split the rent thread. Families aren’t perfect but unless there is mental or physical abuse your mate should always be looking to help heal and strengthen those relationships. That’s what creates family dynasties! I read the statement his parents released in 2013 publicly apologizing to Kobe. I hope privately he forgave them and they were on decent terms.

i've rewatched it like 6-7 times now, and I agree. it was reflective when it needed to be, the stories were funny, etc. but the best part to me was that he was absolutely perfect with his pauses. It made the reflective parts hit that much deeper and the jokes that much more funny.
