Pau was good. So was Lamar. But look at everyone else. Most championship teams have a bunch of solid role players that were good in the league for a long time. Kobe's supporting cast was made up of guys who ended up outta the league after playing with him.

Other than Ariza, what other role player from that roster even played in the league after they won chips with Kobe. That picture is filled with guys who we only know played in the NBA cause they played with Kobe. They literally didn't stick anywhere else after playing with Kobe but when they played with him he had them looking like solid NBA players.

I was at work (damn you retail and lack of free weekends) and some random old head came up to me and asked if I liked basketball, I thought he was gonna ask me bout Zion or something and than he told me Kobe had died in a helicopter crash and I thought why is this breh fukkin with me Kobe ain't dead than I checked my phone really hoping it was some hoax and saw all the major news sources confirming me, one of those moments I don't think I will ever forget long as I'm still on the earth.

I was on facebook and i saw a facebook live start and it said "Kobe Bryant d..."

My heart sank into my stomach like it always does when I see a headline that starts like that but most of the time it's a false alarm. So I'm thinking and halfway hoping that the headline is "Kobe does" this or that

Then I grabbed my phone

I subscribed to get the Yahoo news notifications across my phone probably 6 months ago and they worked once or twice but I never tried to fix it cause i didnt care

Out of all the days for it to start working randomly, this is the day it works. As soon as I grab my phone the full Yahoo news headlines pops up. Kobe Bryant killed in helicopter crash


Then a text message from my brother comes through and all he said was "Kobe died."

I almost broke down in tears right there.

This was the best playoff series ever from Kobe IMO.



He had better numbers in other series. He beat better opponents in other series. But in terms of total control this was him at his best. He had the Spurs with Pop, Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili looking silly. And just look who he had playing alongside him at the trophy presentation. Kobe single-handedly took out the Spurs that year in the Western Conference Finals.

How Kobe went to 3 straight finals and won 2 rings with that supporting cast should be the stuff of legend. Kobe might not have matched Jordan's 6 rings but when you look at the caliber of teams he dragged to the Finals in the West its hard to see something more impressive than that.

We used to defend kobe on ad nauseum on here. against detractors. My nikka went to three straight finals without an old Derek Fisher as his starting point guard, a crack head, a 7 year player who never made all-nba(only was an all star once).... A journey man small forward....
