Tink is bringing that old 2000's flow back:blessed:

I'll pull her up, but we need to go further back than 2000 (cuz in 7 years time, some knucklehead is going to be thinking today is the golden age because of how shytty their singers are in spite of even doper production). What we need to do is go back, way back, back into time, back before video killed the radio star.

I love 90s singing, but even they aren't holding it down like the 80s, 70s, 60s and frigging 50s and 40s. The most old fashioned, regionaled accented bytches from the 30s would destroy any ho out there today -- and that includes the white washed Europeans being sold back to Americans. The lava article above talks about Adele's expressionism......... Adele's expressionism is a mimic.

Dionne Warwick was the poppiest of pop divas. She would destroy any ho out today, pop hit to pop hit, just doing vocal warm ups. Nobody would be checking for her today because she's not half-white. :yeshrug:

But I'll pull Tink up. Thank you for the link for us all.

todays "rnb" singers cant sing, cant write...they cant do anything really.
the days of real rnb (mint condition, jodeci, johnny gill, whitney houston, keith washington etc) will live forever on my 2 tb hard-drive.
these chris browns, drakes etc garbage the kids can have.

It's a singles driven world we live in. Most artists flooding the market are dance, EDM, hard bass rap. What r&b needs to do is flood the market with that to where people become fans of the artist then hit them with some soul. I'm waiting for new jack swing to return. Groups singing in harmony. There's no reason r&b should follow trap music or EDM. Make your own lane on party starters and get a rap verse for the remix.

Breh doesn't have the best vocals, but his music is dope and he produces a lot of his own shyt

Wait a minute -- that was him??!!!! I remember that song! That was the jam. I didn't know the name, though. I thought it was Fifty Cent. Don't ask me why. Is there a Fifty version of this sample?

Speaking of, you won't believe who the alternative music press has been trying to give credit for resurrecting new jack swing influences

(Or maybe you will believe.)

You know how hard R&B has fallen off... I mean, really, really fallen off?

Artists who actually make good music, simply by not sucking, are treated like anomalies now. Whenever you hear somebody bring up the existing good R&B artists out there, it's almost ALWAYS the same artists, cause that's how much they stand out from everything else out there. I grew up in the 80s/90s... and always also heard 60s/70s thru my moms... I'd say the last 10 years of R&B has been depressing.

And even in that, there's artists who are talented but make weak music. If talent alone = good music, Alicia Keys wouldn't be garbage right now.

Subway could sing, breh

I swear I recall reading something crazy about how great singers aren't completely wanted nowadays in mainstream b/c the fans can't sing like them in their car when they're singing along. And so the lesser talented(studio made) singers are preferred b/c they can be more easily mimicked.

I know I didnt just make that up.

And if you think about it, all these shows like The Voice, X-Factor, Idol,etc...these ppl can really sing once they get down the finalist, but yet despite their talent, very few of them blow up afterwards.
Great singing doesnt = hit records
