Knicks should have kept David Lee.

In Amar'e's defense, the Suns DID sign Steve Nash and Joe Johnson in the time he was there. Whether that was due to him or not is another story, but it's not like he turned players away.

Knicks fans are right though. Their ambitions were aiming higher than David Lee. It's not that Knicks fans didn't like him or anything like that, but the idea was to do what Miami wound up doing. Not only did David Lee not fit that vision, he got in the way of it, especially if the Knicks wanted someone like Amar'e or Bosh. Had the Knicks come back with a maxed out Lee, Knicks fans would have called Walsh and the whole 2010 plan a bust.

Now do I think Amar'e was key in getting Melo here? HELL NO. Melo would have come here anyway, but remember, Melo wasn't NY's first choice. He became the next best target once the LeBron dream died. Since they already signed Amar'e, they figured they could add onto him. Having Lee instead would have made things way more muted than they were, since let's be honest, Lee isn't gonna be some great magnet towards signing guys (it's like how people thought LeBron wanted Gallinari to stick around in case he went there)

i remember lebron going out of his way to talk to gallo after a game and everyone being :krs: "thats a good sign, he wants to play with gallo"

good times

Up until this year, David Lee didn't do shyt but stat-pad for terrible ass teams.

If he was built to be a leading man at any point in his life (like Amare was), we wouldn't have won only 29 games his last season here.

I didn't say the word "playoffs" once in my post.

Prime Dirk/Duncan/Bosh/Amare/Gasol/KG all would've won more than 29 games with that team.

Lee just isn't a franchise player, sorry if that offends you

I agree he's not a franchise player. If he's your 2nd or 3rd best player you're a damn good team.

when amare was going for 30+ like 9 games in a row and they went on that run after starting 2-7, it was something lee could never do. still love lee tho, he was our only thing worth watching in those dark days :bryan:

The nikka wasn't a franchise player when the Knicks 1st signed him. That nikka can't carry no team by himself.

That's up for debate. But the fact is he has definitive proof he can carry a team for stretches at a time. Lee didn't/doesnt

Amare is the reason Carmelo and people started paying attention to the knicks again.

It was a bad contract, but it was necessary. The knicks were about to lose out that summer with NO players...you guys don't pay attention

Although, I do think Melo was going to go to NY regardless I understand why you feel this way.

My Bulls were in the same position and had to do something and signed Boozer the same summer.

:snoop:

Hindsight is 20/20 but I'll take D. Lee over that dude right now in a second.

Melo was not going to the Knicks if they did not have another name on that team.

He might have been playing in Brooklyn right now.

Boozer is definitely flabby n sick right now, but at least he has played this season :to:
