Knicks should have kept David Lee.

His rebounding numbers are high but there's plenty of times during a game where he should box someone out take them out of position and let a teammate get the rebound just to try and go for it himself and it ends up being a negative play. Plus for all his numbers his teams haven't had a lot of sucess.

Name the best center David Lee has played with in his career for a full season.

Melo never coming to NYC if cac lee still there, so it was worth it

So Amare who couldn't attract 1 top free agent in Phoenix all of a sudden is a star recruiter? So Melo would've stayed in Denver if it wasn't for Amare? Where else would the nikka have been traded to? Who had the pieces Denver would want that was in a major market? Brooklyn? Lala wasn't going anywhere but NY or LA.

Dumb thread. The same season we got rid of Lee n favor of stat, is the same season we finally made a return to the playoffs. Do we have the team we have without Amar'e? Absolutely not. Day what you want about his contract but in hindsight I'm still making that signing every time.

:discount:

The thought of Melo, Stat and CP3 all playing together brought Melo here. This is common knowledge. LBJ making that joke would NEVER happened with David Lee's name still in NYC. Stop speaking

Show me some stats that show he's been bad defensively this season. Show me some stats that suggest we're a better team defensively with him off the floor.

:cape:

breh stop it. no objective person that has a clue about basketball will tell you lee is even an above average defender. he is a nice player but youre giving him too much credit.

Where was he gonna go to the Nets who the fukk did they have at the time? Stay with Denver? He would of knew the Knicks had the money to spend even if they didn't have Amare I personally think he would of come anyway.

We're talking about THIS season breh. Some me some stats that shows Lee is a below average defender THIS season. You can't because he's actually above average defensively this season and he's a huge reason we're winning and he's the mvp of the team so far.

Why does everyone assume Melo wouldn't of come if he Amare wasn't a Knick? Is there articles saying that? I dont buy it. But really Amare Or David Lee I could really do without either of them. David Lee is the definition of a stat padder and at times at the expense of his team. Atleast with the Knicks i'll be honest I really don't catch Warriors games.

Exactly.

For a full season they've all been :trash:. But it's not like there's many centers out there today that aren't complete trash.

You can't knock him for not ever gone to the playoffs when the best centers he's played with has been Eddy Curry and Andris Biedrins. If he can get 50 games with Bogut we're a 5th seed in the west.

In Amar'e's defense, the Suns DID sign Steve Nash and Joe Johnson in the time he was there. Whether that was due to him or not is another story, but it's not like he turned players away.

Knicks fans are right though. Their ambitions were aiming higher than David Lee. It's not that Knicks fans didn't like him or anything like that, but the idea was to do what Miami wound up doing. Not only did David Lee not fit that vision, he got in the way of it, especially if the Knicks wanted someone like Amar'e or Bosh. Had the Knicks come back with a maxed out Lee, Knicks fans would have called Walsh and the whole 2010 plan a bust.

Now do I think Amar'e was key in getting Melo here? HELL NO. Melo would have come here anyway, but remember, Melo wasn't NY's first choice. He became the next best target once the LeBron dream died. Since they already signed Amar'e, they figured they could add onto him. Having Lee instead would have made things way more muted than they were, since let's be honest, Lee isn't gonna be some great magnet towards signing guys (it's like how people thought LeBron wanted Gallinari to stick around in case he went there)

New York is the largest market in the world. All the Knicks needed to do to attract guys to sign was have capspace.

You're an idiot. If the deal didn't get done he was going to New Jersey. Or he would've resigned with Denver. You acting like Melo leaving Denver was a certainty before Amar'e coming to NY. Nobody was even thinking that before the Summer of Lebron
