Knicks should have kept David Lee.

melo was coming to the knicks no matter what. so for denver to make out with all those players when they had no leverage in terms of other teams they could have traded melo to was a great deal for them at the time.

if the knicks wouldn't have been in such a thirst mode, they should have just waited out the season and signed him in free agency. he was coming regardless. they could have probably kept some of their young talent if they waited. :manny:

There was no more waiting to be made. NYC is not the place for patience, so even if you assumed Melo would be there (which has merit to it), that year of having nothing to show for your pursuit of big time free agents as well as seeing those other players shine somewhere else, even gettin Melo would have been muted.

it wasn't gonna really be a wait. they got melo around the trade deadline. they could have waitied like a couple more months and got him in the summer. they'd probably still have gallo or wilson chandler if they were to do so.

Melo wanted that extra 30.

That's a whole season though. You're asking the Knicks to suffer another humiliating season, especially in the face of everyone you wanted succeeding elsewhere while you get nothing. Nobody could settle for that.

Meanwhile, before they got Melo, Amar'e was BALLIN. People forget Amar'e along with that supporting cast was really impressive. Amar'e was starting the all-star game. It would have been much different (kinda in the vein of the Nets getting DWill) if they got Melo to play out the string as opposed to joining an already an already good team like he did.

Melo wanted that extra 30.

the knicks didn't have to pay him. they could have told denver to fukk off, and then signed him for less after the season. it was already known he wanted to come to the knicks and only the knicks, so other teams weren't even bothering trying to get him.

how denver;s GM managed to get that much in return from the knicks given that melo had the nuggets by the balls is :mindblown: still to this day.

Amare was top 10 players when the Knicks signed him. David Lee was impressive but not proven yet.

to the media and fans, Z-bo represented what was wrong with Isiah's Knicks. Nobody wanted him to stay in New York. Now all of sudden, everybody is on his dikk.

It's easy for the fans to look back and critisize certain moves and draft picks. But alot of these moves made sense back then. Nobody can predict the future.

You're stuck on this.... on what you think MIGHT have happened. And...

it was already known he wanted to come to the knicks and only the knicks, so other teams weren't even bothering trying to get him.

This isn't true. At all. Other teams were putting up offers.

how denver;s GM managed to get that much in return from the knicks...

This is one of the places where you expose yourself. This misconception that that Knicks gave up a truckload....

Go and list off how "much" the Knicks gave up.

And keep in mind:

Mozgov isn't good.
Gallo has actually regressed AND been hurt.
Wilson Chandler never developed.
And Ray Felton..... is a Knick, at a discount no less.
