Knicks should have kept David Lee.

And you don't get it. As long as you have the biggest market in the country and capspace you're gonna attract free agents. Where was Chandler gonna sign if he didn't sign with yall? Where was Melo gonna go if he didn't go to NY? Chicago wasn't giving up Deng for a defensive liability. Denver wasn't gonna accept the few pieces the Nets had to offer. I'm done arguing with fools. You win.
:owerd:
we went 10 years without a free agent that was worth a fukk and a half

Blame that on bad management. Ask @tremonthustler1 about having cap space and not being able to get somebody to sign to your team because they don't wanna live there. The top 3 markets in the NBA are LA,Miami,NY. If a nikka can't get to Miami or LA he'll sign with NY. Remember that.

If you like Amare cause he's flashier, that's one thing. But to say he's a better player is arguable. Lee is a better passer, scores in a variety of different ways and the far better passer. Tell me the next time Amare has a 30, 20 & 10 game. Now in the past, you might say Amare was more of a go-to scorer, but you can't even say that anymore if you've been watching Lee score in a variety of different ways over PF you thought were better. With this passing team, Lee would've been the better fit.

I understand for those that say Amare was a bigger name to attract FAs, BUT it's the Knicks. They attract ANYONE and Melo was going no matter what.

its really not:snoop:

While this is true, you have to keep in mind what NY's goal was that summer. Everything you just said about NY is what NY was hoping LeBron would consider when making his decision. They didn't free up money to hopefully get Melo in 2011. It was to get LeBron in 2010.

It would be easier for my team to come back empty handed because expectations are much lower (and you figure to use that space in other ways). The Knicks simply couldn't just tell the fan base "we tried. It just didn't happen. Let's try our luck with next year's class. In the meantime, enjoy watching the same team again."

I realize why they freed up the cap space. I know it was for Lebron and a sidekick of his choosing. 2010 was a huge summer for free agents as is 2014. All the smart teams in attractive markets are making sure they have the cap space to sign a top free agent in 2014 which is why small market teams will be able to eat good on free agents this coming summer. All i'm saying is that giving 100 million to Amare wasn't a smart move unless you knew Lebron was gonna sign there. If not then sit on that cap space and wait for Melo or somebody else to sign. In the end it all worked out because due to the lockout NY was able to get a amnesty and sign Tyson Chandler and now they're positioned to be title contenders. But had they not amnestied Chauncey they would be stuck as a middle of the road team where nobody wants to be so in hindsight Knick fans can look at their current roster and record and say "We're winning so fukk the Amare contract" but without the Chandler signing NYK is Atlanta Hawks status of last year. Without that amnesty and Chandler Knicks fans would be begging a team to take that bloated contract off the books.

david lee doesnt demand attention. he doesnt draw double teams and open up the offense the way amare does. thats some of the reasons why david lee is considered an empty stats guy. youre not gonna win anything with david lee as your #1 or #2 option. and that goes to @Blackthoughts as well. when amare went to new york, he was on pace to win mvp until he got hurt. david lee will never come close to that. and mind you, amare hasnt had a str8 run with the knicks since then. its been all injuries and roster overhauls after that.

and if the knicks attracted ANYONE, then they would have the miami heat's roster right now. that was their intention. and for the record, they BARELY got amare.

Even after bad management was gone, could we get any cheap fre agents to come here? no...why? cause the Knicks were still viewed as a joke. The haze of doubt had to be lifted of of us first. Its like saying the Clipers could have gotten any free agent they wanted when they were viewed as a shyt team. Its just not true.

Breh, the clippers have been the joke of the nba for the last 3 decades. That nikka Chris Paul didn't give a fukk that they didn't make the playoffs when he okay'd the trade to go there. That nikka wanted to get to the city of Los Angeles and didn't give a fukk which team it was. And don't say Blake was the reason he wanted to go there because if Blake was in Portland CP3 wasn't gonna okay the trade. If it was about winning nikkas would be taking less bread to play in OKC. JR Smith is getting paid crumbs compared to what other scoring 2 guards like him are making but the nikka wanted to stay in NY because of bad bishes like Tahiry. Show me a nikka taking less money to sign with OKC and then we can talk.

Yeah because the entire league was begging to give Amare 100 million for 5 years with his history of injuries and lack of defense and rebounding.

you completely missed the point.

what im saying is that they were desperate to get amare at the last-minute. this is well-known, and also, word was that isiah thomas stepped in and convinced him to go to the knicks. keep in mind, there were other teams that had room for amare's contract. he couldve easily ended up in brooklyn.

as for the other stuff youre saying, the clippers had a nice squad in place before cp3 got there. not just blake griffin. people forget that the season prior to that, baron davis had them playing playoff basketball after his injury/before sterling traded him out of spite.

j.r. smith is from the new york area, is one of carmelo's best friends and his stock wasnt that high prior to him signing with the knicks due to white establishment/"niqqer-ball" reasons.

You seem to be forgetting Tyson came here because he said he wanted to play with Melo AND Stoudemire
