Knicks should have kept David Lee.

After An Embarrassing 10 Years And Finally Some Cap Space SOMEONE Had To Be 1st To COME Here And Make The Statement "shyt Is About To Be Different"

You Dont Change The Culture By Leaving It The Same, David HAD To Go

We Dont Make ANY Kind OF Impact Or Statement, Leaving David Lee Here

I think had Lebron not gone to Mia, Amare wouldn't be a Knick. It was clearly a ploy to show Bron that they have a guy there he wanted to play with since he tried to get him traded to Cleveland. If Lebron came right out at the start of free agency and announced he was going to Miami then NY wouldn't waste 100 mill on Amare.

Doubt it. In fact, it would have made it even more certain that they would have gone after Amar'e. Walsh could not come back empty handed during that summer. David Lee coming back, as much as Knicks fans liked him, wouldn't have brought anyone back to MSG after throwing away years hoping to land a superstar.

Knicks fans are glutens for punishment. They always come back. I get your point though. They had to make a splash for the sake of making a splash. I just don't think Amare at 100 mill was any smarter than the Joe Johnson max deal. Both were  just to show that you could get somebody to sign. It wasn't smart. Teams like Minny and Golden State are the kind of markets that gotta overpay to get guys to sign there. nikkas should be taking less money to play in NY like JR Smith did. All dem hoes and business connects in the city is worth taking a little less.

One thing Amare Stoudemire can do that David Lee can't is score 30+ points 9 games in a row on 50% shooting for each game and carry a team as the #1 option. Dude was a legitimate MVP candidate before the Melo trade. Yeah it was early in the season but Lee will never carry a team or put up numbers like that.

Joe Johnson was not going to bring another star to New York or wherever the fukk he signed.

Even if Amare comes back and is Yinka Dare status it was worth it.

Offensively what can Amare do that Lee can't?

he draws double teams and is clearly a better all-around player. dawg, do you not remember that amare was a frontrunner for mvp his first year in new york before he got hurt? you'd seriously take david lee over that?

and as for that carmelo/bulls comment. carmelo is not a defensive liability. that stuff is overblown. hes just a bad team defender, but he can play man-to-man. thats not a liability. hes not steve nash.

and i said it before and bulls fans on here hate me for it: the bulls passing on melo was a ridiculous move. they will never get to the finals with the team that they have.

Amare has never averaged 10 rebounds a game and he's a power forward. How can be clearly be the better all around player when Lee is the better rebounder and passer? They're both suspect on defense so because Amare scores more than Lee he's the better all around player? Lee had a better season than Amare last year at scoring btw. Ain't this a what have you done for me lately league?

Why don't you say that to the guys that keep bringing up the fact that Amare had 9 straight games of 30 pts? :beli: if it ain't about stats then how do you prove which guy is better?

If you like Amare cause he's flashier, that's one thing. But to say he's a better player is arguable. Lee is a better passer, scores in a variety of different ways and the far better passer. Tell me the next time Amare has a 30, 20 & 10 game. Now in the past, you might say Amare was more of a go-to scorer, but you can't even say that anymore if you've been watching Lee score in a variety of different ways over PF you thought were better. With this passing team, Lee would've been the better fit.

I understand for those that say Amare was a bigger name to attract FAs, BUT it's the Knicks. They attract ANYONE and Melo was going no matter what.

You in hindsight Colin coward ass muthafukkas are annoying me. There is no guarantee that melo was going to the Knicks. I'm not even arguing who will fit in better with the team, but the fact is that amare brought that buzz back. He had people interested in playing here to possibly build a championship team. David Lee at best was getting that attention for his nice stat lines night in and out on a garbage ass team...Jamal Crawford style.

fukk off with the amare hate. The guy could not score another point for the Knicks and I won't be mad. I see the 100 million contract justified even if it was for that half a season to get this shytty ass organization on the map for the first time since Patrick Ewing was traded.

The Knicks didn't free up money to get Melo. They freed up money to get LeBron! Melo became a target once LeBron made his choice to go elsewhere. It's not like they operated thinking "well we already got Melo in the bag, let's go get LeBron too."
