QBs sign 3 year fully guaranteed contacts all the time. There is so much dead money usually involved those first few years the team is forced to retain the player for 3-4 years, even when they want to move on. See jay cutler or joe Flacco for instance. Those guys were guaranteed to be on the team for 4-5 years because of the dead cap hits. Flacco will be a raven this year and next year no matter what, because he has 16 million in dead money. It’s fully guaranteed without the wording of saying it’s guaranted. Many of those qb contracts are 100% guaranteed thru the same time frame as cousins 3 seasons. There’s no goalposts being moved. You’re just arguing semantics

I'm sorry, but there is a difference between signing for 5 years, having a signing bonus, some base salary that guaranteed over a few of the years, and then years where the amounts won't matter because you'll never see it, and signing a 3 year deal with a salary of $28 mill a year, fully guaranteed.

Fully guaranteed contracts would ruin the competitiveness of the NFL. As it stands now, teams can get rid of underperforming players thus ensuring players having to bust their ass to make sure they get paid.

Why the fukk would you want to ruin it as a fan? You're not getting a cut from this dude's salaries?

Except there’s not, because when there’s lots of dead money attached in those cases the player is guaranteed the same 3 seasons. Only difference between joe Flacco’s guaranteed thru year 2019 contract is he signed his several years ago, and the market has since been established at higher amounts. This ain’t changing shyt long term

didn't darrelle revis do this? sign a bunch of guaranteed 1-yr contracts? or is it revolutionary cuz a white QB is doing it :dwillhuh:

No.

He signed a $96 million dollar contract with Tampa.....with no guaranteed money.

Then he signed a 2 year deal with New England, which was really a 1 year, $12 million dollar deal.

He became a free agent again, signed with the Jets for 5 years and $70, with $39 guaranteed.

It's not the same and again, me bringing up Cousins has nothing to do with the color of his skin.
