Coursera & EdX have different resume writing tools and don't be afraid to go to the library to see what resources they offer.

DON'T QUOTE THIS POST, I'll edit it after you PM me :troll:

We've all been there breh, keep your head up. Entry level roles requiring 2 years of experience never made sense :mindblown:

I'm in the bay so I know how these companies talk a big game about diversity but never back it up by hiring us :mjpls:

I know a breh that will probably be willing to help you. I see his company is hiring for some roles you might be a fit for.

The only problem is I don't want to be associated with the coli offline so you can't mention a coli breh directed you to him :pachaha:

PM me, I'll give you his LinkedIn info and tell you what to say to him and also send you a link to the role.

Again, I only ask that you say you saw the role and searched linkedin for brehs that worked there so you reached out to him. I suspect breh might even be a coli poster so I don't want him figuring out my username

nikkas should know by nature that if you are getting help on this site, treat him like a friend, not a poster. This is off the grid so it should be respected and treated as such.

The purpose of this thread is to create accountability for myself in my job search process. Hopefully this is relevant to the forum.

Things about me: Graduated May 2020 from a top university interdisciplinary degree in Information Technology. Tried to start and managed 4 different startups while in college using lean startup method (mainly ed-tech and blockchain). No experience apart from that. No network either.

Things I'm looking for: Pretty much any job that will hire me to get myself off the ground. My career options are pretty much wide open. I'm not a technical person, but can work extremely well with technical people and can manage tech teams like a beast.

I'm looking towards entry level Junior PM, entry level Project Coordinator roles, consulting as a last resort. But my options are open to pretty much anything except sales roles.

I also wanna build my network because despite utilizing it in college to get talented people on my team and secure meetings with angel/VC advisors I'm really bad at it. I struggle with anxiety so it can be super overwhelming.

Moving forward: I'm going to update this log daily until I get hired with everything that I'm currently doing to put myself in position.

While this is a log any tips, advice, guidance, etc. is appreciated! The grind begins now.

You need to start picking up contract roles. 3-6 month jobs just to get your resume up to date and your foot in the door. I would be reaching out to every staffing agency in your city. On LinkedIn, set your profile to open to work (you'll have a green ring around your profile picture). Should you get a few of those under your belt, then focus on FT employment. For now, a gig is a gig.

I second this as well. As a fresh grad you don’t want to spend too long post grad out of the job market. You won’t look as desirable to recruiters. I compare it to shopping for fruit, very few people want the last 2-3 pieces of fruit on a once full shelf. Those are the pieces that either fell on the floor, people picked but didn’t like, were blemished etc.

A couple of my boys did the temp-to-perm contract thing with Morgan Stanley in Baltimore. One did it for like 2 years then left to Fannie Mae, another transferred to Morgan Stanley HQ in NYC after a year then Tuck Bschool and then another left to Mastercard.

Main thing is you want to get experience as soon as possible. Easiest time to get a job is when you have one.

I can see the labour market tightening very soon for entry level grads. 2-3 yrs and a lot of companies will start cutting the fat heavy.

It's a grind getting that first job if you don't have one lined up while still in school
Took me 4 months of full time searching to find my first post college gig
Try looking into big corporation rotational programs, they exist for people with no experience
I second this, take advantage of your new graduate status. After a year or 2 they no longer will hire you.
