Haley Joel Osment should be fine considering they‘ve kept James Woods whose problematic in his own right and should have arguably gotten replaced himself.
On another note, we've heard nothing about Missing Link and how it's been stuck in development hell and how far exactly they've gotten with KH4.

Was the best storyline cooking
every trailer hit, the soundtracks hit, the characters were memorable.
then they went OD with the mobile games and introduced a bunch of fukk shyt no one ever cared about.
We can toss 2.8 in the mix too since it covered what happened to the squad from BBS
3 was pretty mid but that's mostly due to them making the combat even more braindead than usual
All of these other arcs and characters y'all talking about are trash
super unnecessary and the "connections" get goofy as hell

Aqua and Terra struggling with Vanitas styling on them blades
Ventus getting scooped mid air and clapped

it opened up a complete can of worms that i don't think was even worth it. Sora, Kairi, and Riku were a million times more interesting that Terra, Aqua and Ven.

What the hell was interesting about Kairi?
sora had a crush on her that's it.Riku didn't even have a solid reason to crash out like he did in the beginning, dude just immediately chose evil
with Terra they actually showed moments building up to him turning on their master to save his boy
Ventus tryna keep the group together and almost getting smoked by their master was great writing
Aqua getting trapped in that other realm was fukked up, alot of dope cameos while she was there
Even Roxas had a more interesting story arc than Sora and them

but then they made her a keyblade master and since 2, they pretty much erased her personality. And she wasn't even a memorable or particularly good keyblade master. Not to mention Axl/Lea was also a keyblade master (gimme a break)?
the darkness tempted riku and then maleficent made it worse
i get the general idea of TAV, but the execution was trash. not to mention Master Xehanort being a body snatcher. I think it was all convoluted and not even fun to track across a bunch of gaming platforms.
It all culminated to KH3 which was one of the worst-written video games of the last few years (not even gonna mention the drop in gameplay quality since they switched development teams from KH2 to KH3). The big battle was fukking trash. not to mention TerraXehanort cooked the whole crew by himself
introducing TAV wasn't worth the mess to me. KH2 ended so well. All org 13 characters were introduced between CoM and KH2. Master Xehanort wasn't a good enough villain to blow up the whole story tbh.

In what respect? Hype is super subjective.
My only gripe would be some of the Bosses are weak, but that's most KH games until you get to the humanoid bosses
That fighting system wasn't as braindead as most KH games imo
you fukk around and run through all your abilities too quick and you getting smacked, had to actually strategize to a degree and figure out how to craft moves that gave you the best transformations

that's the thing, they bloated the story at every turn. did all that to rush the great battle in KH3....after all them nikkas got washed by ONE guy

I agree with you here, they could've just gotten rid of Xehanort in BBS and I would've been fine with KH2 being the canon ending
KH3 was just a rollercoaster of bullshyt until you hit the crazy boss rush at the end leading up to Scala ad Caelum, if they could've combined those ideas with Castle Oblivion KH2 would've been the GOAT
Instead they both ended up being Mash triangle: the game
Kh1 might have been the only one with a legitimately fun boss rush at the end, i "memorized" all of those Ansem speeches he whooped my ass so many times on Destiny islands
