Bannon advocated drawing out of the forever wars and using the money to restore predominantly-black areas, as well as increasing access to capital for black entrepreneurs, which are things I would like to see happen. He has a bunch of terrible ideas and is trying (and failing, thankfully) to foment right-wing nationalist movements in Europe, so I'm glad he's not in power now, but to act like the mainstream Republican conservatives that won out over him are markedly better is an argument I think you need to defend, because it smells a lot like "disease, not symptom" shyt.

I believe that criminality is bred, not born.You can launch as many DoJ investigations as you want, but until you solve the root issues, namely a corrupt education system that suffocates the chances of underprivileged children before they're even grown and an economic system that is stacked against the African-American community by privileging illegal immigrants and corporations, you're only covering the wound. Of course criminal justice needs reform, and retraining police to treat black people less like animals is a noble goal, but if someone doesn't have a decent education and a decent chance at gainful employment, they lack the mentality and opportunity to invest in their community. Someone with no vested interest in their community is much more likely to turn to destructive or criminal behaviour. If the choice is between having better police interactions or having a viable path to middle class life and economic prosperity, it's a shytty choice but i'm choosing the latter. The automatic association of police interactions with the black experience in America is an unfortunate byproduct of systemic racism, and should not be the endpoint of any black political movement. Economic and education reform should be the priority. Police interactions will ameliorate as a consequence. Ideally the police won't even be a presence in black life. They're not in any other prosperous minority community.

Like, yeah I supported Trump destabilizing the political status quo to enable a broader, more just political coalition to spring forth. But that poster really seemed emblematic of the actual damage Trump is bringing forth. Like, that's just actual neo-nazi shyt.
