The second verse on Something For Junkies might be verse of the year. Anyone with Junkie family members can relate.

Woke up straight, travel great, counting my money
Had a quick convo with my auntie the junkie
I tell her baby you've been going too hard lately
See you like 60 baby but you've been looking 80
She said "shyt, Michael I've been smoking since '80"
Before the shooters, back when we still called it freebasing
She closed her eyes, fantasized 'bout better times
When she was beautiful, fine and still snorting lines
She told me stories of glory, the club saying Suzy
Atlanta night life was glamor, rich black bougie
A damn movie, she says puffing a damn loosie
Trigger warning, the next moment she took a hit
She zoned out, came back, took a spit
Looked at me said all of you got the same shyt
She said, "Michael, you say you love me, I know you mean it
'Cause you still treat your junkie auntie like a human being"

Room was incredibly dusty when I first heard this verse.

Incredible. Music has seemed boring for a while. There’s been good albums here and there. This is inspiring. Aoty for me personally. Can’t see anything else moving me like it. Every song. Spiritually uplifting battle marches for everyone who’s had to deal with real shyt. Redemption and reflection :blessed:

He went full libertarian KRS-one who thinks he’s a civil rights leader. Dude likes to hear himself talk. Went from underrated to just trying to be everywhere. it’s weird

Still think he wasted too much time on RTJ

I stopped following his interviews and general media presence a few years ago.

Also, had really no interest in his RTJ work outside their initial collaboration.

Looking forward to this though.

Yeah this is really nice, reminds me a lot of Scarface

Weak sauce year but this is def one of the strongest releases we will see unless the remaining five months turn into some kind of never before seen quality rap avalanche a la mid 90s

I want to like this album. On paper it has top notch production, it has great raps, great features, etc…

But for whatever reason I just feel :unimpressed: while listening. And idk why…

I like Killer Mike as a rapper…him as a person is another story cause I don’t agree with his political views and when I hear him speak in interviews he always comes off like he is the smartest one in the room.

I try not to let that blind me when it comes to his music, but for whatever reason this album isn’t hitting me like it’s hitting everybody else.

Gotta sit with it more I guess :yeshrug:
It's not as good the last solo. A lot of rapping but no clear song structure.

Mike walked on this. And the beat switch is crazy. Also, don't think I've ever heard a bad Blxst song/feature lol.

I'll revisit soon after seeing all this praise but I didn't like it at all on the day of release, could be timing

Reasons: I don't like over the top singing even on a couple of tracks and this has way more than a couple, Flow was similar and choppy on most tracks and the lyrics weren't that great to me either, Don't even remember the production other than most of it not being my thing

This opinion may change next spin.
