What game did he get?

My nephews really don't care about the graphics. They got PS5s each on their own, I suggested his father (my older brother) get his kids 4K TV with HDR but my brother said his sons don't care about the damn 4KTV, graphics, etc. They just want to play the damn fun games so he's right. I tried to school my nephews but they all were like :yeshrug: . My nephews sure love damn Fornite, Human Fall Flat, Fall Guys, Lego games, and Marvel games and they also got Nintendo Switch.

Spoiled, maybe. Jaded, not necessarily. Those Minecraft numbers aren't because of graphics. Same with OG WoW or any number of other games.

A good game is a good game.

I feel like we didn’t start caring about Graphics until a game like Shenmu came around on Dream Cast. I honestly didnt start caring about graphics until the PS360 era tho. Seeing GTA IV as a youngin had me like

Most people in general don't care about graphics. Despite what they say.
Evidence:
Fortnite
Mine craft
Mobile games
Nintendo
Casinos
Cards
Chess
DnD
Game play >>>>> visuals. Always. Style and using graphics properly is more effective.

Right. Kids may not need cutting edge, state of the art graphics, but that art style better be smooth and the graphics better at least be of the modern era. My daughter will call out shyt resolutions too if it's looking like shyt on the big screen. That'll only fly on handheld.
Your daughter is an outlier breh :mjlol:

the appeal of graphics were always important…half of the video game experience is the visuals (video) with the other half of course being the gameplay (game)…but by the respective eras’ standards that was the best they could do so it was deemed impressive at the time especially when compared to previous gen games…I remember myself and others being excited about the graphics…granted it’s hard to say how “everyone” felt bcuz we didn’t have social media to get more of a pulse on how others felt…but I do remember folks remarking on how much “that looks just like mike tyson” when playing punch out…or taking note of how much better super mario 2 looked compared to the first one…being impressed by how much better games looked on the SNES compared to the NES…I could go on

Most people in general don't care about graphics.

you didn’t really add anything to quantify this…you just listed a bunch of games many of which have a unique style of graphics that individuals more than likely find appealing…which at best allows you to argue that many gamers may not necessarily care about realistic looking graphics

Always. Style and using graphics properly is more effective.

which is ultimately what makes graphics important so I had a bit of an issue with you starting off by saying “most” ppl don’t care about graphics

I'll never forget being in school, and the first kid that got a SNES told us that Mario's jump sounds echo in caves. we were amazed:wow:

I listed the most successful games and they don't have cutting edge graphics.

Yea breh was wilding with that post. I’d argue we cared more bout graphics in the 90s and 00s than kids/young adults do now

NES was :ohhh: compared to Atari
SNES and Genesis had us all like :ohhh:
Then PS1 had us really :ohhh:
Same with PS2 and 3

All these gens were huge improvements over previous ones,

And don’t get me started on Arcade games which were even better than consoles out at the time

Wrestle fest had wrestlers looking like their actual real life counterpart 30+ years ago :wow:

Then you had TMNT and others

Graphics were definitely a big deal in the 90s and maybe even the 80s
