I remember my freshman English class talked about this movie for a month straight before I finally saw it. Outside from the scene of the breh getting jumped and attacked with the skateboard, I was pretty desensitized to everything else. In fact I found the first 20 minutes of the film funny actually. To me and how I grew up, it was pretty accurate (outside of AIDS) so there wasn't much of a shock factor. Hell, I knew a breh that acted a lot like Harold in the film. Thankfully, he's still living.

I swear the girl in the opening scene with Telly went on to do porn . Face looked too familiar .

I've seen all of Larry Clark's films and Ken Park is still the most shocking of all of them however. Remember having to order it from Canada because it was banned for a while in the U.S.

i remember when i was in high school i read the plot summary for kids on wikipedia and it sounded like it was a generation-defining controversial masterpiece. but when i saw it it was pretty underwhelming

It's probably a better watch if you're around the same age as the characters

I was 17 when I saw it and I didn't think it was a masterpiece, but I appreciated it as it was a time capsule of what the dirtbag youth of 90s NYC were like.

Almost a perfect representation of a certain sector of NYC youth at that time period. If it wasn't for basketball and a strict mom I could have been just like these kids wilding out in city full of demons.
