I'm not saying he's the worst defender of all time as his IQ and quick hands account for something, but lets not act like he's a good defender.

You can do that for every player, especially with all the space players need to cover to defend now.

yes the nuggets havent been good on defense 20th in defensive rating at 115.0. they have been better defensively with jokic off the floor but the difference in minimal. 115.2 given up on, 114.8 given up off. his overall on/off net rating is +25.5 he doesnt seem like the player to nitpick when his team is outscoring the opposing team by 11.4 pts per 100 possessions when hes on the floor and then losing by 14.1 pts per 100 possessions when hes off the floor.

If that's the case, the previous tweets posted showing his defensive IQ are cherry picked as well. The thing is I don't need compilations to know that he has no lateral quickness and more times than not puts minimal effort in on defense other than gambling for steals

Except they’re not cherry-picked because they’re a demonstration of his BBIQ, or are you of the belief that he isn’t a smart player and the high IQ plays he makes aren’t the norm?
Besides, how many players do you know in the league that are calling out opposition plays before they happen and telling their teammates where to position themselves?
You can’t cherry-pick something like that. A player has the capability to do that or they don’t. It’s not something like being late on a close-out or not contesting a shot in the paint - those are type of actions that you can easily curate a narrative around a player being good or bad at, which isn’t reflective reality.
Marc Gasol lacked lateral quickness, yet he was one of the best defenders in the league and won a DPOY. Jokic shares a lot of similarities with him where he uses his size, positioning and smarts to have defensive impact.
He’s isn’t even remotely close to being lazy on defense. The man has arguably the heaviest workload on offense, sprinting up and down the floor more than almost every big man, constantly defending the PNR out on the perimeter, whilst being one of the biggest/heaviest players in the league. You don’t have as many steals/deflections and contested rebounds as he does if you’re lazy on that end. He’s just limited in what he can do on that end of the floor. That doesn’t make him lazy.
If you wanna see a lazy defender, you don’t have to look too far elsewhere because he’s got multiple on his own damn team.
Poor perimeter defense.
Funnily enough it’s the same reason Denver has a flood of traffic in the paint that they can’t stop too.
