I'ma tell you and then give you a some Google hw.

I knew a bm, born and raised in harlem, one of the early integrated classes at an ivy who married a Jewish girl and said in a major publication that white folks read, and I quote, "I loathe harlem." His own daddy who sent him to those fancy schools was ashamed.

Meanwhile, he leveling up with the Jewish girl (a fitness instructor or some such), bought a brownstone and vacation house in the hamptons, had kids, sent them to the best schools, etc. She divorced him and wrung his ass OUT, you hear me??! :usure:

Now he with a sista. :unimpressed:

We talking class of 78 n shyt. :wow:
Can't find the article. Can I get a name?

Let me try to explain. Idk the unattractive life, but it's hard to overcome natural constraints. Ie, "The ww and latinas got hair I can run my fingers through." Very few of us are competitive based on that measure. How could the rest of us possibly try? If y'all say it enough, like y'all did, it will brew serious discontent.

For an analogy, how does the avg bm feel listening to busted hitches talk about how they'll only submit to a hvm? Like, 'Well damn, don't you know about these external forces holding me down? :why:"

Response: ":sas1: Oh yes, those are the same forces that create the beauty standards that deem us unacceptable, we know all about them. :sas2:"

It's a mess between us and instead of harping on old shyt, we ALL need to exhibit some grace.
This all seems to be the hurt that hurt produces. Where did the hurt come from?

Easy response to that. Do you believe your thoughts and experiences are the only ones that exist? Yes some bm do and say foul shyt to bw. But do you think bw aren't doing and saying the same to bm? Like sometimes you have to inject the reality of the situation into the convo.

I don't know if it was this thread that I told this story...
...but I'mma tell it again.

My old roommate (is not a bedwench, nor does she hate black men, but...) her frame of reference with black men is inner city and surrounding Baltimore guys. It wasn't until she got to graduate school and started working that she began to form a frame of reference for white men. We were having a "spirited discussion" once about how she viewed black men versus how she viewed white men. I blatantly said that the way she and black women she admired thought was white supremacy. She pushed back against that - how could a black woman have white supremacist thoughts, ya know. She didn't understand her empirical bias until after I asked her, multiple times, when have you spent an extended amount of time with lower-class or lower-income white men. She hadn't. Ever.

Her frame of reference was lower-class black men vs upper middle- and upper-class white men.

And that's exactly how white people compare black people to themselves. Never the ghetto to the trailer, it's always the ghetto to the gated community.

A great panel last night with Dr. T Hasan Johnson, Dr. Ron Neal and others. Breakdown of Samuels talking to that therapists.

some real gems in this discussion:wow:

I'ma watch this now.

My fault I was saying are these girls dating them for their money or for them?
My point was, it wasn't money. They came from money. Maybe connections...? But that goes back to what I've said before: bm don't chase ww. They chase the effort put into rearing them gently (ie, NOT in hood where she woulda had to fight at the damn bus stop) and the connections their families (read: fathers) can afford them.

It's not really about the women at all.:dame:

I hear you :ehh:

But there's a lot of brehs (myself included) that would love to run our fingers on a nicely shaped afro puff or especially on some long dreadlocks on a woman :noah:

So im not sure where this sentiment or insecurity about hair comes from. Cause there's a lot of brothas out there that would prefer a black woman as they are as long as there's a pleasant attitude to go along with it.

The truth is black women invest more into their weaves than they do their relationships :yeshrug:

But this is new, and only bc bw forced it after the economic downturn of 2008.

Before, bm would call it nappy. Hell, some still do. Not to mention how loooong it takes to grow kinky, african textured hair to appear as a certain length. (Imagine the length hidden in an old school phone wire. When you uncoil it, it's super long. Regular, it fails in comparison to other cords length.)

If y'all don't handicap us, we fail in that measure (or bm chose to select for looser textured naturals, which they do).

Edit: Other women be getting whole fake asses, lips, self tanner, and everything else to blackfish y'all and we stuck on weave?

:patrice:
That may have been the case in the past, but now I think a lot of black women just like wearing weave. They claim black men don’t like natural hair to justify why they do it.

I don’t know any black man who likes weave, especially the blonde or colored ones.
Same with chest tattoos. No man finds that attractive, but thousands of young women are getting them.
