To get to this point, though, the topic must be broached in the first place. I think this was an opening salvo.

Like I said, earlier, he tends to discuss a thing for a while first, then break out the receipts and go in... once he's built up the appropriate interest. Also, I'm low key the KS whisperer bc I posited that his true goal was to encourage black families waaaaay before he said it.

To your larger point of historical context, I mean, okay. But at this point, the more serious problem is that bm have bought in to the stereotype, not the stereotype itself.
