Generally it tends to be more of a problem amongst communities where people don’t have much else other than their dikks.

A more nuanced examination of hypermasculinity amongst Black communities would probably entail some perspectives that get dismissed as “liberal” or “feminist” or something.

You’re right. I’m on record about this dude, you know what time I’m on with respect to this closeted man. I’m just saying I didn’t expect him of all people to make this ok to discuss. Previously any talk about hyper masculinity would be met with anger, accusations of wanting to neuter black men, bringing up feminism etc.

Hyper masculinity exists in nearly all cultures sure. If you have Mexican friends and have seen first hand how they do family/party dinners, with the men doing nothing as women bring them food…yea this shyt is everywhere. And Hispanic men like big cars, are often accused of being unfaithful, etc etc. Yet they marry their women at some of the highest rates, are active fathers, and work hard. Their family unit isn’t broken, and they’re still playing a major role in family dynamics.

That can’t be said about black men, family dynamic wise. It’s not black pathology. It’s a designed social situation that became a preferred social structure. Everyone understands the value of marriage except for us. My question is how do you fix this as we seemingly get torn even farther apart.

And by 1995, many of us fully knew that we were headed on the wrong track as a group.

That is why WE (including me...) showed up by the millions in DC that sunny October day in 1995, to pledge atonement and responsibility.

Unfortunately, the sentiment of that one day did not take hold in the community. And absolutely nothing concrete came from that day -- no new organizations, movements, etc.

Real nikka Culture saw that vacuum of leadership and structure, and now we've arrived at a point of non-direction.
