Your style should match your personality. I will leave it at that. If you wanna wear a blazer to go grocery shopping in 95 degree weather then more power to you. :manny:

There's linen and silk material you can wear that's breathable you can rock in warm weather. People think sportsjackets are just wool when there's other materials. Even hemp.

well I agree wear business approriate clothing in general to business meetings and such. obviously first appearance and perception matters

but casually? idk if thats a big deal

I will say I don't really like how casual society has become but I embrace some of it. I rock jeans and sweatpants a lot but when I want to go out sometimes I like dressing in a nice sportsjacket, jeans, a t shirt and some dressy shoes. It's still casual but elevated.

As far as I am concerned, there are no age restrictions when it comes to fashion. However, there are certain situations where dressing up or down may be appropriate.

I haven't watch KS latest shows yet, but I know that his style of dress isn't for every man. There is nothing wrong with rocking suits & boots, but I won't accept it as being the standard for men his age, my age or any person older/younger than him.

He is a part of the corporate world, so his style of gear suits him(no pun intended). Me? I am a casual style type of person. I will rock a suit or dress up when necessary.

He based this on the movie Birth of a Nation which led to misconceptions about the black race as a whole. He never linked dressing better to better race relations but as a side point he mentioned dressing to improve your image and how others initially perceive you. He also talked about an article that showed how a breh in LA did an experiment and dressed differently on different days and was treated better when he dressed better.

Yep - Agreed with you about being from the corporate world and I will also add coming from a different time.

I think he said this because ultimately the conversation was about changing our (Black Men's) image. I'm in my late 30s myself so my style is different than a man that's 21 or 45.

Almost all the fits in the OP are too complicated. In my experience, the simpler the fit, the better.

Even Kevin himself used to wear crazy patterns a few years back. After he toned it down, he ended up looking way better. (Pause)

But as always, a big part of it is each person’s style personality.

I dress up all the time but I don’t like this advice because why should I have to have a suit on to be treated like the average white man in flip flops and chino shorts? This is c00n shyt to deflect off of white supremacy. Do we have personal agency? Yes. Do I dress suited and booted? Yes. But I also realize that I’m just a nikka in a suit especially when I’m anywhere upscale.

Yeah I know, I just want people to wear whatever they feel that expresses their personality. If Kevin likes more business casual style that is all good, but he should not look down on anybody who wants to rock a 10 Deep crew neck and some Jordans. And that goes vice versa as well.
